Our national client, a major player in the Automotive Aftermarket, is seeking a “Human Resources Director.”
The position is responsible for developing HR strategies and providing sound advice to senior and executive management on related subjects while managing the overall provision of Human Resources (HR) services, policies, and programs for the entire company.
Responsibilities:- Develops the Human Resources Department and encourages the ongoing development of the Human Resources staff.
- Conducts a continuing study of all Human Resources policies, programs, and practices to keep management informed of new developments.
- Directs the preparation and maintenance of necessary reports to carry out the functions of the department.
- Prepares periodic reports for management to track strategic goal accomplishment.
- Develops and administers programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the HR functions of the company.
- Ensures appropriate workflows and checks and balances are in place for efficiency and to minimize risk of errors.
- Formulates and recommends Human Resources employee relation policies and objectives for the company.
- Partners with management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs, and laws.
- Determines and recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation.
- Conducts investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth.
- Reviews, guides, and provides recommendations for employment terminations.
- Directs the development and maintenance of the Human Resources content of both the internet and intranet sites.
- Ensures the effective use of applicable HRIS for the company's recordkeeping and management advantage.
- Establishes and leads the recruitment processes necessary to attract and hire qualified candidates.
- Ensures a positive experience for applicants, regardless of the outcome of their candidacy.
- Interviews senior management-level candidates.
- Ensures appropriate tools and materials are available for a positive employee orientation and onboarding experience.
- Leads the implementation and maintenance of a performance management system that includes employee development programs.
- Assists managers with the selection and contracting of external training programs and consultants.
- Partners with executive/senior and line managers to manage the establishment of potential training requirements.
- Monitors and advises managers and supervisors in the progressive discipline system of the company.
- Monitors the implementation of a performance improvement process with non-performing employees.
- Recommends and establishes the company compensation structures, pay policies, and oversees the compensation systems within the company.
- Leads participation in annual salary surveys and competitive market research to establish pay practices and pay bands that help to recruit and retain superior staff.
- Monitors all pay practices and systems for effectiveness.
- Ensures adherence to legislated programs (e.g., pay equity).
- Monitors national benefits environment and trends for cost-effective options.
- Recommends changes in benefits offered, especially new benefits aimed at retention.
- Working with consultant partners, obtains cost-effective employee servicing benefits.
- Ensures appropriate benefit-related communications and materials are available to employees.
- Leads company compliance with all existing legislated requirements relative to employment.
- Ensures appropriate policies are in place as per applicable jurisdictions and best practice for equitable employment relationships.
- Makes recommendations toward minimal company exposure to lawsuits.
- Serves as the primary contact with the company external employment counsel and outside government agencies.
- Protects the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and government legislation.
- Monitors administration to established standards and procedures. Identifies opportunities for improvement and resolves any discrepancies.
- Post-secondary education; preferably in business and/or HR program.
- Certified Human Resource Professional OR Leader certificate or equivalent in work experience.
- 15 years or more of directly related experience.
- 10+ years in successive HR management roles; proven experience in a senior management role.
- Experience managing and developing a team of HR professionals (talent acquisition, HR Business Partners/generalists, payroll & benefits administration).
- Broad knowledge and experience in compensation, benefits, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, and training and development.
- Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources programs.
- Experience managing external vendors, including HCM, Talent Acquisition providers.
