Job Description

We are seeking an Architect to join our Buildings Group in the Bowmanville office, in a hybrid model. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow their career in a team-based environment, working collaboratively to deliver a wide range of projects in multiple markets including transit, commercial, education, healthcare, and federal.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Working with the project team to prepare conceptual designs, presentations, design development and construction documents for a variety of projects
  2. Assist in the integration of multi-disciplinary input into the design process from specialists in areas such as traffic engineering, transportation safety, storm water management, geotechnical engineering, and environment/ecology
  3. Assume role of key project manager in the control and management of resources, budgets, and schedules
  4. Act as key project liaison with clients
  5. Assist in the management of the architectural staff
  6. Preparation of presentation materials and renderings for client and public consultations
  7. Coordinate with regulatory agencies and prepare materials for inclusion in permit application packages to secure approvals
  8. Assist with contract administration services and/or construction inspection as required
  9. Continued professional development through participation in internal and external learning opportunities
  10. Represent architectural group at team meetings
  11. Assist in written materials for proposals, design briefs, meeting reports, and other non-drafting tasks associated with the architectural design process
  12. Conduct Design development & Review
  13. Provide Mentorship to junior staff
Qualifications
  1. Graduate in Architecture (B. Arch or M. Arch) or equivalent combination of education
  2. Licensed Architect - Registered in good standing with the OAA
  3. 8-14 continuous years of relevant continuous work experience
  4. French language skills would be an asset
  5. Good written and verbal communication skills
  6. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple project tasks
  7. Strong Microsoft Office suite skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
  8. LEED and or Passive House accreditation would be an asset
  9. Must have a valid Ontario driver’s license with a clean driving record and access to a reliable personal vehicle
  10. Self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently and a desire to contribute to the success of a team through a focus on quality and client satisfaction
  11. Proven ability to QA/QC drawings and specifications
