Job Synopsis: The Executive Director of Mennonite Central Committee Canada is responsible to the MCC Canada Board through the Board chair for the overall leadership of the relief, development and peacebuilding work of the service agency of the Mennonite and Be in Christ churches in Canada. The Executive Director works collaboratively with the MCC U.S. Executive Director to provide leadership for the shared MCC International Program and is the face and voice of MCC Canada, speaking on behalf of MCC Canada and building understanding and support for the mission of MCC among its increasingly diverse constituency. The Executive Director encourages and engages Provincial MCC Executive Directors and MCC Canada Senior Leadership Team in their efforts to accomplish MCC’s mission and uses strong interpersonal skills to help resolve differences within the organization.

Qualifications:
Essential:
- An advanced degree in a related field and/or substantial related experience is required
- Demonstrated and successful administrative leadership in a church related mission/development organization
- Ability and experience in envisioning, implementing and evaluating significant organizational initiatives
- Understanding of national constituent denominations and conferences
- Acceptance of foundational Anabaptist theological beliefs
- Capacity to bring together, speak with passion, describe creatively in writing, energize and lead a large and complex organization in which decision-making is diffuse
- Skilled in upholding MCC Canada values of faith in Christ, peace, justice, service and equity
- Capacity to negotiate organizational and theological differences
- Membership and active involvement in a Mennonite or Be in Christ congregation
- Demonstrated commitment to developing intercultural competence in building bridges across cultures
- A favorable police record check upon hire
Preferred:
- International cross-cultural program experience preferred
- Bilingual in French and English preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide inspirational leadership in the development of creative and innovative programs and related support services within the context of the MCC Covenants and inspire the passions of staff in their implementation. (30%)
- Shape strong partnerships within International Program, with MCC U.S. and the provincial MCCs and work to create an empowering environment for all staff. (25%)
- Represent MCC beyond itself with constituent denominations, inter-organization relationships and other stakeholders including national government bodies. (25%)
- Provide support for the governance functions of the MCC Canada Board, including establishing and monitoring compliance with MCC’s identity, purpose, vision, priorities, approaches and values (20%)
Other Duties: as assigned. Occasional overnights; Occasional long days; Diverse group of stakeholders; Occasional evening and weekend work.
Start Date: 01 Mar, 2025
Salary Details: MCC Canada (MCCC) has a Group Benefit plan which is paid by MCCC, it includes; Supplemental Medical/Dental/Vision, Employee Life Insurance, AD&D, global medical assistance, RRSP contribution match, Employee Accidental Death, Dismemberment and Specific Loss, and Dependent Life Insurance. Long Term Disability is employee paid. Critical Life Insurance is available at employee discretion and employee paid. These benefits are effective on your first day of employment with MCC Canada.

The Executive Director serves as the Chief Executive Officer for Mennonite Central Committee Canada and represents the vision, values, mission and strategic direction of the Canada Board throughout the organization.
Location Description: This position can be filled remotely with frequent travel to Winnipeg. Winnipeg is a city of approximately 835,000 people located on the Red River, 112 kilometers north of the U.S. border. Being near the centre of Canada, it is a major transportation hub. The city's population is diverse and has the largest urban Indigenous population in Canada. English is the most common language spoken in Winnipeg, while also being home to a large francophone population. Tagalog, German, Mandarin, or Cantonese, Ukrainian and Punjabi are other top languages spoken.
