We are looking for an Oracle/Hyperion Administrator for a 2-month contract position, with possible extensions, in Calgary, Alberta. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Schedule is 7 hours a day, 35 hours a week. Flexible work program, remote work when practical but weekly in-person engagements will be required.


Role Description
This position’s primary purpose is to administer the Hyperion management system as well as analyze financial and staffing cost data for budgeting, reporting and forecasting purposes. This position is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the data contained within the system as well as continual enhancement and development of the system to support business needs, regular administrator duties as they relate to budget, forecasting and reporting operations and maintenance of reliable integration with other company information systems. This job is also responsible for providing support for all of the organization’s Enterprise Financial Systems, including Oracle e-Business Suite (EBS), Data Relationship Management (DRM), Oracle Hyperion, and SmartView and Hubble reporting tools.


Main Responsibilities

  • Extend the use of the Hyperion application suite for the management and finance staff through continual enhancement and development.
    • Hyperion modules include:
    • Hyperion Planning
    • Hyperion Essbase
    • Human Capital Planning
    • Financial Reporting Studio
Develop reports, implement dashboard solutions and coordinate projects around the platform. Support Hyperion system implementations, enhancements and upgrades. Standardize data processes to support operational and strategic decision making. Identify, analyze and report/resolve data issues. Develop Hyperion forms, business rules, and calculation scripts. Create and augment Essbase cubes. Develop dynamic reports using Hyperion Reporting tools that present results based on metadata rather than hardcoding.

Business Support & Analysis

  • Run scenarios and financial impacts in support of collective bargaining and budgeting.
  • Oversee the establishment of staffing budgets including loading, analyzing and executing What If scenarios.
  • Document detailed business requirements workflows.
  • Gain approval of business requirements from the key stakeholders.
  • Write functional specifications, application gap analysis, non-functional requirements and recommend solutions to address approved business requirements.
  • Design system related controls, applications and reporting solutions that align to the enterprise architecture.
  • Develop, test and implement solutions to meet business requirements.
  • Create operational support documentation and user guides.
  • Translate project objectives and high-level requirements into detailed system requirements and/or use cases.
  • Analyze implications of requested new or enhanced application functionality.
  • Work closely with budget and reporting staff to ensure Hyperion is providing required reports and analysis.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the organization’s reporting processes and requirements (both internally and externally imposed).

Project Management

  • Support major system changes using a project-oriented process and provide regular status reports.
  • Participate in and/or lead project activities, as required.

Support

  • Provide support for the Hyperion applications, including managing support escalations, troubleshooting and closing escalated support tickets.
  • Support and perform monthly, quarterly and annual tasks for Hyperion planning and reporting.
  • Create, format and deliver ad-hoc reports/queries to operational users and/or finance and accounting controllers.
  • Plan and coordinate application migrations from test to production environments.
  • Develop and deliver training for new and existing application users.
  • Develop and maintain training materials for all Hyperion applications.
  • Create formal system change requests and facilitate delivery of all production system updates through the change management process.
  • Follow set system processes, policies and guidelines.
  • Document administrative processes.
  • Perform other related responsibilities as assigned to meet the purpose and accountabilities of the role.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years progressively more responsible experience with Hyperion applications/infrastructure/reporting tools (Hyperion Planning, forms, Human Capital Planning, report development, Essbase, Hyperion Smart View).
  • Public sector experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience with upgrading Hyperion platforms/modules through different versions.
  • Experience participating in a corporate budget and/or financial reporting cycle and a strong understanding of these processes.
  • Experience analyzing complex payroll data and interpreting budget impacts of changes.
  • Proven skills in documenting user requirements, analyzing requirements, testing, and making suggestions for business process improvements.
  • Advanced analytical skills in gathering system requirements, logical data and process modeling, use case modeling and workflow modeling.
  • Knowledge of Oracle EBS financial systems (i.e. A/P, A/R, G/L, F/A, Cash Management) is an asset.
  • Financial and/or accounting background is considered an asset. An accounting designation is considered a strong asset.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a large, multi-union, complex organization.
