The Opportunity:


Our client is one of the largest and fastest-growing propane distribution companies in Canada. They are a fast-moving, customer-facing, field-based business operating coast to coast, with over 400 team members. They strive to be the undisputed propane leader in North America.


We are currently supporting them with their search for a Finance Analytics Specialist who will serve as the go-to expert for all financial data analysis, systems integration, and reporting automation initiatives. The role requires advanced proficiency in data analytics tools, including Excel, Macros, VBA programming, MS Access, SQL Server, and Power Query, to support the finance department in uncovering insights, managing complex data structures, and creating efficient models for reporting.


They have an immediate need for a 3-month contract assignment with the possibility of extension or conversion to a permanent position.


What You’ll Be Doing:


  • Data Investigation & Analysis: Lead efforts to investigate and analyze financial data, providing actionable insights to support decision-making processes.
  • Data Integration Management: Oversee the integration and flow of financial data between various systems, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and security.
  • Modeling & Automation: Develop and implement financial models and automated reporting solutions using advanced Excel tools, including Macros, VBA programming, Power Query, and SQL Server.
  • Financial Reporting: Design, develop, and maintain robust financial reports and dashboards that deliver critical insights to stakeholders.
  • Collaborative Support: Act as the key resource for the finance department, assisting various teams in optimizing workflows and solving data-related challenges.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate existing processes and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency and scalability within financial operations.
  • Training & Development: Provide training to finance team members on data analysis tools and methodologies, empowering them to utilize analytics in their daily activities.


What You’ll Need To Be Successful:


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial data analysis, with a strong emphasis on managing large data sets and automating financial reporting.
  • Expert-level Excel skills: including advanced Macros, VBA programming, and Power Query.
  • Proficiency in MS Access and SQL Server: for data manipulation, integration, and querying.
  • Experience with Data Integrations: between financial systems, ensuring seamless data flow and system communication.
  • Financial Modeling Expertise: ability to create and automate complex financial models, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Analytical Mindset: excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work with large volumes of data to extract meaningful insights.
  • Communication Skills: strong ability to explain complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: ensuring precision and accuracy in financial reporting and model development.
