Recovery Alberta: Mental Health & Addiction Services is now seeking such an individual for the role of Executive Lead, Communications to grow and promote the positive image and reputation of the new provincial health agency dedicated to mental health and addiction services, and correctional health services. Recovery Alberta will provide comprehensive and accessible recovery-oriented mental health and addiction services to all Albertans.

As the Executive Lead, Communications, you will develop the vision for Recovery Alberta’s communication strategy and develop, implement, and evaluate the overall communication plan.
In this role, you will provide strategic advice and expertise to Recovery Alberta’s executive leadership team on all aspects of communication and community engagement. In addition, you will develop and maintain positive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with the Ministry of Mental Health and Addiction’s mandate. Description:The Executive Lead, Communications is responsible and accountable to develop the vision for Recovery Alberta’s internal and external communications and oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of Recovery Alberta’s overall communication plan. In this role, the Executive Lead, Communications will be accountable for all internal, Board, corporate, and public communications, and acts as strategic counsel to the CEO and members of the executive leadership team on all aspects of communications and community engagement.
This role oversees the strategic planning, delivery, and evaluation of communication tools and the creation and execution of integrated strategic communication plans across all Recovery Alberta portfolios. The Executive Lead, Communications is accountable to foster relationships, both internal and external to Recovery Alberta, to support internal communications, public relations, community relations, publications, and special projects, while ensuring alignment of communications strategy and delivery with the Ministry of Mental Health & Addiction’s mandate and directives.
The role will work closely with partners including Alberta Health Services, health service delivery operators, community partners, other provincial health authorities, and the Government of Alberta.

The successful candidate will possess a degree in public relations, communications or journalism, and 10 years of experience in communications and strategic planning, including five years of experience in a senior management role with an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. A combination of educational qualifications and experience may be considered. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience and knowledge in all facets of strategic communications, including media relations, crisis management, government relations, internal communications, and strategic web and online communications.
Additional Required Qualifications:Demonstrated excellence in all facets of strategic communications, including media relations, crisis management, government relations, internal communications, and strategic web and online communications. Proven ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences, including interpersonal, government relations, and public relations skills. Strong sense of integrity with a track record of ethical behaviour. Demonstrated leadership abilities, including comfort with decision-making and exercising sound judgement. Proven ability to foster partnerships to achieve organizational goals. Demonstrated ability to develop organizational strategy and planning. Demonstrated ability to lead strategic initiatives and manage change to achieve positive results. Ability to influence, negotiate, and mediate resolutions to complex situations. Demonstrated ability to model innovation and creativity.
Preferred Qualifications:A graduate degree is preferred. Professional accreditation through Canadian Public Relations Society or International Association of Business Communicators is preferred. Previous experience providing communications expertise within a healthcare organization is an asset.
