About the role

As ATB's next Director, Private Banking, you will be leading a team of Private Bankers while growing and maintaining a portfolio of Private Banking clients through the development of deep relationships with high net worth clients of ATB Financial by providing tailored advice, connecting clients with the proper expertise and educating clients on ATB Products.

Accountabilities

Advisor Accountabilities:

  • Participate in strategically overseeing and promoting Private Banking offer across ATB and external to ATB to drive understanding of the current offer, where its going and how its unique.
  • Responsible for the professional practice community on areas of the private banker role specific to private banking.
  • Represent the Private Banking business line by establish and maintain strong working relationships with other ATB Wealth Leaders
  • Being active in relevant communities to articulate ATB's private banking capabilities and developing the enterprise private banking capability.
  • Meets with clients to assess their needs, reviews their financial position and provides advice (e.g wealth planning) on potential ways to meet their personal and business objectives
  • Identify opportunities to create relationships between HNW ATB Clients and other AOE's or experts and provide access to exclusive products.
  • Negotiates customized pricing arrangements for clients that balance winning business and increasing bank profitability.
  • Liaises with credit specialists on more complex deals, to design and structure custom lending arrangements with ATB clients.

Leadership Accountabilities:

  • Collaborates on strategic planning to achieve business goals
  • Actively coach direct reports on their business performance as measured by team member progress against their scorecard objectives.
  • Provide input and direction to guide team members to deliver high-quality outcomes
  • Effectively handles day-to-day responsibilities for team
  • Able to lead a range of team members, adjusting delegation and management approach to team members' capabilities and personal growth objectives. Strong interpersonal skills with proven record of successful management
  • Builds high-performing, motivated teams
  • Supports development opportunities for team members

Skills, experience & requirements

  • Relevant industry designations (CFP, TEP, CPA etc) and/or Master's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting and/or Risk Management
  • Business Development experience is required
  • Previous Private Banking experience is an asset
  • Complex portfolio lending experience is required
  • Minimum of 5 years Leadership Experience within Financial Services is required
  • Strong problem solving skills
