Our client is a leader in the construction and aggregate industry with operations in Sudbury, North Bay, Sault, Ste. Marie, Thunder Bay and Kenora. With decades of experience, they specialize in road building and maintenance, paving, site development, open-pit mining and producing high-quality aggregates and asphalt. They are seeking a hard-working, self-motivated professional with a proven record of safety and reliability to join their team as QC Manager. In this full-time, permanent role, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing our client's quality control programs across Northern Ontario, with a focus on both their asphalt and aggregate operations. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead, develop, and manage the Quality Control Systems across multiple districts.Oversee and maintain quality standards for asphalt and aggregates in compliance with industry specifications, contract requirements, and company policies.Develop and implement quality control testing procedures, documentation, and reporting systems.Ensure all materials meet the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO), Canadian Standards Association (CSA), and other applicable standards.Support operations teams with technical expertise, troubleshooting, and recommendations for process improvement.Conduct audits, inspections, and reviews of QC practices at various plants and job sites.Provide leadership and training to ensure consistent QC practices across all locations, including travelling across Northern Ontario.Collaborate with management and project teams to ensure timely and accurate testing results for ongoing projects.Reinforce compliance with all company policies and procedures: safety standards operations, maintenance, training, cleanliness standards, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Work closely with all departmental teams in a positive, supportive and collaborative manner, placing the highest value on respect for the contribution, responsibility, and unique expertise that each department's staff bring to the combined group.Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor.JOB QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Construction Materials Technology, or a related field is required.Professional designation (P.Eng., CET, or equivalent) considered an asset.Minimum five (5) years of experience in quality control within the asphalt, aggregates, or concrete industry.Valid G Class Driver's License.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Strong knowledge of MTO, CSA, and industry testing standards.Strong understanding of mix designs, including proportioning materials for strength, durability, and workability.Familiarity with CSA, ASTM, ACI, OPSS and MTO specifications for production, testing, and placement.Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to travel regularly across Northern Ontario districts, including extended stays when required.Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office - Word, Excel and Outlook).Ability to adapt to last-minute changes as dictated by the needs of customers.Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.Leadership skills including understanding delegation, conflict resolution, and motivating the team and building positive relationships with staff.Abide by all Company policies including, but not limited to, the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental, and Human Resources policiesOur client seeks to hire individuals with diverse characteristics, backgrounds, and perspectives.
