We are currently looking for Production Manager to join our Burlington team. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity that will provide daily management and coordination of all plant operations, including Production and the respective department Team Leaders while ensuring compliance with all labour, environmental and corporate policies, and regulation. We are looking for a positive, energetic person who is highly motivated and wants to work in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Create and monitor departmental goals and objectives through key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Organising workflow structure and communication within the manufacturing operation
  • Ensure the team's performance and accountability to zero defects. Identify and solve department problems that cause poor quality in conjunction with the Maintenance and Quality Managers
  • Assists the VP Operations to develop Team Leaders & Managers through coaching and mentoring
  • Ensure 100% on-time delivery of quality products to our internal customer
  • Create, implement, and manage standard operating procedures for different operational activities. Ensure SOPs are being followed and update and revise as needed
  • Enable effective communications between management and operational groups
  • Promotes accountability by providing formal and informal performance feedback to Team Leaders, including performance appraisals
  • Assists the VP Operations to manage budgetary responsibilities
  • Conducts accident / incident investigations implementing corrective actions
  • Manages departmental labour, maximizing resources to meet established objectives in
    accordance with an approved manpower plan
  • Works with the VP Operations & Human Resources to identify gaps in staffing and create a recruitment plan based on the needs of the business
  • Collaborates with Human Resources to interview and on-boarding of new employees
  • Confers with VP Operations to provide updates on key projects and budgetary objectives
  • Promotes continuous improvement and takes advantage of cost reduction opportunities
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with 6S protocol
  • Plans and directs the efficient utilization of all equipment and manpower
  • Organizes and takes part in professional development opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager, designate or as the situation dictates

Physical Demands

  • Sedentary, office-based role that requires the ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Position requires sitting at desk or more of day, walking short distances for less than of day. However, as this position supports the Production floor, it requires working on Production floor for long periods at a time .
  • Substantially repetitive movements of the arms, wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Required to have visual acuity to perform activities including but not limited to analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer screen, extensive reading.
  • Must be able to carry, lift, push or pull up to 75 lbs intermittently throughout the shift
  • Engage in frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing and pulling of parts and part containers
  • Due to the open environment of the warehouse, must be able to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat during summer months
  • Adaptable to relative sound pressure levels

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Must have a post-secondary education and/or technical related work experience (a Mechanical Technologist or Industrial Engineering background is an asset)
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible manufacturing managerial experience, in a manufacturing environment, successfully leading groups of approximately 100 - 117 employees
  • Broad technology-based skills; proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); including ERP systems
  • Knowledge of budgeting, data analysis, and capital equipment analysis
  • Leadership aptitude and the ability to motivate workers; Proven ability to motivate and develop team members and lead through change .
  • Highly organized individual that can manage a clean and safe workplace
  • Must be able to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization as well as customers and vendors
  • Highly detail oriented with strong oral, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; demonstrated commitment to accuracy and efficiency
  • Strong results orientation combined with good judgement and the ability to make sound, reasoned decisions.
  • Focused on results; able to work within tight time constraints and shifting priorities ; consistently meets or exceeds established production targets
  • Strong project management skills; assists in completing projects on time and on budget
  • International travel required; must have valid passport
