Working within the Corporate Records and Information Management business unit at the Office of the City Clerk, the Corporate Records Assistant Summer Student will provide support to ensure the effective lifecycle management of the City's Records.

The Office of the City Clerk is the primary contact regarding City Council business. The Office manages Council and Committee meetings, quasi-judicial boards, municipal elections, the municipal census and appointments to civic agencies. It also manages corporate records and oversees Freedom of Information inquiries for the organization. The duties of this position involve providing support to Corporate Records staff.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare records for storage
  • Locate, categorize and inventory records
  • Audit existing records inventories for accuracy
  • Assist with document control and data entry
  • Support records management and related projects as required

Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in a Library Science, Management of Information Systems, Business, Political Science or related postsecondary program
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to maintain strong working relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to take direction from and provide support to various city staff
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct analysis with proven attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability using Google Products (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Spreadsheets, Calendar, MyDrive, etc)

Conditions of Employment:

  • Currently enrolled and returning to school or a postsecondary institution in the fall of 202
  • Applicants must be First Nation, Metis or Inuit
  • The work location is on the west end of Edmonton

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday

The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time.

Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
