Role and Responsibilities


The Indirect Procurement Department is looking to hire an experienced professional with a supply management background to take on the role of Business Services Category Manager as part of the Business Services and IT Sourcing Group.


Role Context Description:


The Business Services Category Manager is responsible for Category Strategy, Strategic Sourcing, Critical Supplier Management and Stakeholder Management for assigned categories including Contingent Workforce, Travel Services and Professional Services.

He/she will develop long-term strategies aligned with key business stakeholders.

The individual will also be accountable for managing and enhancing existing high-profile managed services programs, including Contingent Workforce and Travel Services, in liaison with the designated MSP partners.


By joining our Global Strategic Sourcing team, you will have the opportunity to participate in exciting activities not only from a sourcing and program management standpoint, but also in terms of process development and improvement.


Key Responsibilities and Expectations include:

  • Development, presentation, and maintenance of relevant, businessaligned and datadriven subcategory strategies.
  • Translation of subcategory plans into a rolling 12month pipeline of strategic sourcing projects to be maintained and prioritized in DevOps, the Indirect Procurement project tracking tool.
  • Execution of sourcing projects in compliance with established strategic sourcing framework.
  • Performance of business reviews with strategic suppliers based on an established cadence.
  • Identification of and participation in process development and improvement initiatives focused on adoption of agile, pragmatic and fasttrack principles.
  • Development, maintenance and expansion of strategic relationships and alliances with key stakeholders and promotion of GSS value proposition through the identification of collaboration opportunities across various business units.
  • Contract negotiations with new and/or existing suppliers, in liaison with legal and the relevant stakeholders, to accomplish lowest total cost of ownership, savings objectives and balanced risk management.


The Business Services Category Manager is also expected to be an effective change agent, working with senior leadership within the Global Strategic Sourcing organization and the business to drive sustainable changes to how the organization sources business services.

In this role, the individual will regularly interact with key business leaders to balance cost, risk and speed in order to ensure that the business is able to meet its objectives.

The skills to influence and drive change, combined with the drive to deliver results as per the goals set, will enable the Category Manager to support the rapid evolution of CAE business.

To be successful in this position, the individual is expected to demonstrate the following skills, experience and background:

  • University degree, ideally in procurement and/or recognized industry accreditation (ISM CPSM, CIPS, SCMP, etc.).
  • 57 years of relevant experience.
  • Sound judgement and good business acumen.
  • Results and customeroriented mindset.
  • Agility and ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders in a dynamic and fastpaced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication with great capacity to synthesize messages in an executivefacing format.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and build strong cooperative and supportive relationships.
  • Autonomy to manage multiple tasks with efficient prioritization.
  • Ability to work with a diverse clientele and adapt to a variety of situations and people.
  • Proactive attitude and initiativedriven.
  • Good work ethics and political savviness.
  • Proficient use of digital tools such as MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook), PDF, SAP Ariba, DevOps, and others.
  • Bilingualism (French and English), both spoken and written.
