What You Have:

  • A warm, friendly and supportive attitude.
  • A creative and confident approach to challenges and problem solving, and endless patience.
  • The desire to work with children with special needs and make a difference for them and their families.
  • Preferred experience working with children, early childhood education, or special needs education.
  • A reliable vehicle, as our clients may want you to take them out in the community for fun activities.
  • A clean Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector, and Child Intervention Check.
  • First Aid with CPR Level C certification.
  • 1 year of postsecondary education.

Duties:

  • Supervise and care for children in clients residence, bathing, dressing, and feeding children.
  • Plan, prepare, and serve meals for children and may perform other housekeeping duties.
  • Oversee children's activities, such as meals, rest periods, as instructed by employer.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment in home.
  • Assist the child in personal hygiene.
  • Tend to the emotional wellbeing of the child and support their social development.
  • Deescalate children according to the methods requested by the parents.
  • Organize and participate in activities such as games, crafts, reading, and outings.
  • Take children to and from school/appointments.
  • May be required to keep records of daily activities and health information regarding each child.
