Overview of role:

WestJet is seeking a Program Manager to join our Integration Management Office. This individual must exhibit a high standard of excellence, enjoy challenges, and be results-driven. The incumbent must also be highly motivated and demonstrate the ability to work in an agile environment.

This Program Manager will lead a program as part of the Sunwing Integration portfolio to integrate Sunwing into the WestJet Group. The Program Manager will support the Program Sponsor in defining the program's strategy and objectives, translating them into an actionable integration plan, owning the scope, resourcing, and costs, and centrally driving the program's planning and execution.

Key deliverables include:

  • Drive the finalization of the integration program plan, including refining scope, resource requirements, and costs
  • Lead the centralization of projects and work packages, including aggregating status reporting, RAID log management, and dependency identification
  • Facilitate workshops, stakeholder meetings, status meetings, and the program aspect of executive update meetings
  • Support business case development and creation of decision papers for scope, resources, and costs in service to Portfolio Board submission (WestJet's project prioritization and resourcing governance and decision-making body)
  • Drive accountability by ensuring timely delivery of commitments, serving as the liaison between integration objectives and WestJet and Sunwings' priorities
  • Develop and present compelling content that distills complex information into actionable insights for critical decision-makers
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other program managers, project management resources, IMO members, and subject matter experts
  • Collaborate with the Portfolio Lead to collate the program integration plans into a portfolio integration plan that includes the activities, costs, schedules, resources, and upcoming decisions to inform portfolio visibility decision-making

Experience and qualifications:

  • University degree required, ideally in business, economics, marketing or finance
  • 8+ years of program management experience, with a preference given to candidates with large-scale post-merger integration experience
  • Strong process and project management skills, with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects, priorities, and deliverables simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with all levels of stakeholders across Sunwing and WestJet teams
  • Experience conducting detailed financial and strategic analysis, drawing out implications and recommendations
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to think "big picture" and understand what the potential outcomes could be and use creative thinking to solve complex problems
  • Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to communicate at an executive level with information that tells a story, highlights critical insights and influences business decisions
  • Proficient skills in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • High degree of diplomacy and good judgment, along with the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Previous experience in the aviation industry is an asset
