The Manager, Finance Capital Investment, partners with internal stakeholders at Canada Post to provide insight based on a deep understanding of the business environment, to develop key relationships across various business functions, and to ensure the successful deployment of capital investments.

The Manager collaborates with stakeholders to identify risks and opportunities and develop forecasts, analysis, controls, and initiatives to mitigate and/or capitalize on the same.


Responsibilities:

Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Manager:

  • Conducts financial evaluation and assessment of business and/or operational opportunities and applies standard impact analysis and modeling techniques to evaluate and project benefits and risks.
  • Assesses business and/or operational opportunities for alignment with key strategic direction, validates financial assumptions, ensuring quality and completeness.
  • Understands key financial and operational drivers of performance and integrates these into financial models for analysis and forecasting in order to assess progress being made toward financial goals and objectives. Relies on sound judgment to know where further clarity is required and seeks out additional information when applicable for analyses and forecasting.
  • Analyses monthly, quarterly, and full project results and trends; produces and updates forecasts and ensures accuracy and integrity of data and information used resulting in the ability to anticipate and clarify future issues, risks, and opportunities.

Job Responsibilities (continued):

  • Assesses risk and analyzes proposed alternatives for corrective actions to meet plan objectives and targets and escalates as necessary. Conducts proactive trend analyses with best practice reviews. Leverages information to provide insight and challenge ideas, influencing direction and decision making.
  • Provides governance and promotes consistent implementation and use of corporate financial policies, processes, guidelines, and tools in order to maintain integrity, safeguard corporate assets, and mitigate risk.
  • Initiates, leads, and presents data and recommendations at regular performance reviews, discussing monthly results with business owners, managers, and members of multidisciplinary teams. Applies project management principles to effectively manage projects and successfully achieve results.
  • Contributes to longrange planning on an annual basis to determine future organizational goals, over the span of 1015 years.
  • Provides general supervision and direction on daytoday tasks for staff and provides staff with necessary support to deliver against the expectations of their roles.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Completed postsecondary, preferably in a related field including (Commerce, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration)
  • Relevant professional designation (CPA) and/or MBA would be considered an asset

Experience
years of relevant functional experience in a related field

  • 2 or more years of experience in a supervisory role
  • 1 or more years of experience in a similar organization would be considered an asset
  • 1 or more years of experience in a unionized environment would be considered an asset
  • A strong relationship builder with personal credibility, polished communication, and presentation skills, including experience with senior executive interaction
  • A selfstarter with high business acumen, sound judgement, critical thinking, and problemsolving skills with a desire to learn, grow and contribute value; comfortable with risk and working with ambiguity
  • Dynamic individual, adaptable to change, team oriented, and high emotional intelligence
  • A clear understanding of the investment process within a business (e.g., fixed assets, treatment of expenses)
  • Proficient computer skills and competent with Microsoft Office programs and other job relevant programs
