One of a network of provincial community health centres, the NorWest Community Health Centres is a community based, non-profit organization funded by Ontario Health, emphasizing access to primary health care and prevention programs and services.

We are currently seeking a 1 FTE Administrative Assistant to support the Chronic Disease Self-Management Program.

The Chronic Disease Self-Management Program Administrative Assistant is responsible for the management, development and delivery of organizational programs and services at the Thunder Bay site, team care, designated outreach sites and all programs and services offered at the Armstrong site.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Postsecondary education in business administration, or a combination of educational preparation and applicable experience.
  • Minimum three years' experience as an Administrative Assistant, Senior Executive Assistant or in other secretarial position.
  • Knowledge of and advanced level of proficiency working with office management systems, procedures, planning and time management.
  • Basic bookkeeping and financial accounting skills.
  • Experience taking accurate meeting minutes that reflect discussions and actions to be taken.
  • Selfdirected with strong organizational, analytical and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize daily workload in a fastpaced environment.
  • Discretion with personal and confidential information.
  • High level of professionalism and diplomacy with the ability to stay calm in highstress situations.
  • Understanding and experience working in an organization that prioritizes diversity and work with vulnerabilized populations.
  • Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to health issues particularly within populations who face barriers to accessing care (under housed, living with mental health challenges or diagnoses, current or past substance use, complex health histories, 2SLGBTQI+, newcomers, noninsured).
  • A vehicle and a valid driver's licence are required.
