Responsibilities

How You'll Keep that Fire Alive:

You'll create, craft and edit stories and social content about our work and the people we support.

You'll consult with program managers and stakeholders to support content development and help to find those diamonds-in-the-rough stories that can be polished and shone to perfection.

You'll create and edit content in alignment with our brand voice, tone, approach and editorial guidelines.

You'll snap photos, create graphics, and work with external stakeholders to advance communications initiatives in alignment with our organization's strategic plan.

You'll support the creation and development of internal and external communications plans.

You'll support organization-wide and program-specific communications projects and initiatives, including print and digital assets.

You'll measure and report on the success of your communications using co-created Key Performance Indicators.

Qualifications

Education and Certifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or equivalent.
  • Clear Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's license and access to personal vehicle is required.

Experience

  • 3+ years' of progressively responsible experience in communications or public relations or an equivalent combination of related skills and experience.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and current trends in digital and social media.
  • Experience managing social media and web-based channels is preferred.
  • Experience with email marketing software and graphic design software (Adobe, Canva) is essential.
  • Competency in a computer-based environment
  • Experience in the social services not-for-profit sector is preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Capable of establishing effective working relationships with all stakeholders in a large and complex operating environment and with external suppliers.
  • Proven ability to manage complex workloads in a fast-paced environment.
