Reporting to the Parish Priest, this position offers a competitive rate of pay, and requires a commitment to work flexible hours.
Primary Responsibilities
- Spring/Summer/Fall
- Watering, weeding and fall leaf collection
- Winter
- Snow and ice control of doorways, steps and walkways including salting, shoveling and use of snowblower
- Maintenance of winter snow removal logs
- Outdoor and indoor Liturgical seasonal decorating
- Year round
- Inspection of Parish lighting system, fire alarm and emergency systems
- Parish garbage collection/recycling and disposal upkeep
- Maintenance cleaning of church/hall/office and washrooms as needed
- Boiler care daily in winter, occasionally in spring/fall
- General electrical, plumbing and minor building repairs as needed
- Maintains adequate supplies for the various facilities including washrooms, parking lot and grounds
- Facilitates maintenance & repair initiatives for parish buildings
- Coordinate with contractors as needed
- Facilitate inspections and tests (Fire department, backflow testing, furnace, AC, elevator)
- Conduct monthly fire alarm tests
- Inspect grounds for garbage, and keeping the surroundings of the rectory, office and church clean
- Set up and take down for Parish events in lobby and Parish Hall as needed
- Ensure appropriate maintenance logs are completed and up to date
- Participate in an emergency contact list
- Performs other duties as required
Requirements:
- Education: high school or equivalent
- Prior landscaping and maintenance experience is preferred
- A minimum of 3 years experience
- Be able to work in all outdoor yearround weather conditions and be in good physical condition
- Familiar with safe operations and maintenance of landscaping equipment (lawnmower, trimmers, snowblower, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions
- Good communication skills
- Steeltoed safety boots
- Flexible schedule which may include evenings and weekends
- G Class Driver's license
