The Canadian Finance Reporting & Analysis (CR&A) team is responsible for the internal and external reporting & control needs of the Canadian Executive team (CET), CFO, Board of Directors, and Investors.

Reporting to the Director, Accounting and Controls, the incumbent will be responsible for the consolidation and preparation of key internal reporting deliverables for SL Canada.

Through their involvement with the Business Units (BUs) and Support Units, the individual will develop a broad knowledge of the various Canadian BUs, their products, and key metrics.

The incumbent will also directly contribute towards maintaining a positive, collaborative, and high-performance team environment.
Support key quarter-end financial processes for SL Canada including all technical accounting deliverables
Preparation and settlement of intercompany accounts between SLI (Sun Life Insurance) and SLA (Sun Life Assurance)
Maintain and develop End User Applications, automated spreadsheets/tools used to support key CR&A deliverables and controls
Co-ordinate and support interim and annual audit requests, including ICFR (Internal Control Framework) support
Maintain data integrity by running proper control checks and maintaining databases
Develop strong partnerships and collaborate effectively with the Canadian business and support units, Canadian Actuarial, and our Corporate office to deliver all accounting requirements
Support in performing critical tasks across the Canadian Finance Reporting and Analysis team including providing additional support to team members during the quarterly close process as required
Provide support for strategic Canadian and/or Corporate projects and initiatives
2-5+ years of experience with Accounting and Financial Controls
~ Hold or working towards a professional accounting designation (ex. Advanced MS Office applications skills; (specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
~ Ability to proactively communicate well and present ideas/decisions clearly both verbally and in writing
~ SAP, AFO, Tableau, Oracle, Hyperion)
Business knowledge and experience related to the Insurance and/or financial services industry
Some overtime during peak periods will be required
