RAM is a technical consultancy providing Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering and Advisory services across Canada. RAM is searching for a motivated and experienced individual in Vancouver, BC. The successful candidate will be an individual that enjoys a challenging, professional, and dynamic workplace and contributing to the success of a hardworking team.

Functional Lead Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to their team, including supporting the department manager with hiring, objectives, performance reviews, and development plans/training and feedback for your team members.
  • Ensures a high-performance and client-oriented team which supports achieving the RAM mission, strategic plan, objectives, and core values.
  • Assist to develop and report on the team's fiscal objectives, including positive teamwork, increased efficiency and profitable sales growth.
  • Develop and maintain a resource loaded schedule and coordinate resources requirements to maximize billability and utilization. May assist with recruiting, training and retaining key staff, as required.
  • May assist the department manager and/or Director with monthly financials including invoicing; Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely submittal and approval of team's timesheets and invoices for all contracts in their portfolio.
  • Support the development, implementation, and improvement of relevant department tools, including digital solutions and documentation and ensure cost-effective implementation on projects.
  • Support Business Development and Marketing opportunities and initiatives to grow and maintain RAM's client base and revenue targets.
  • Lead and participate in Proposal process for various contract management opportunities, including methodology, expertise, time, and cost estimates.
  • Host and lead meetings with client contacts as well as prepare presentations and other supporting content.

General Project Responsibilities:

  • Managing contract management assignments including project initiation, planning, and resourcing assigned projects, generally:
    • provide support in areas of subject matter expertise to RAM and their clients in the area of procurement, contracts and/or claims management;
    • work with internal and external project teams to develop and implement project specific contracting strategies;
    • leading cradle to grave contract management activities.
  • Chairing/attending project meetings as necessary and produce meeting minutes where required.
  • Reviewing project requirements and ensuring plans are in place and clearly understood by the team members and other project personnel where applicable.
  • Schedule and plan project work per client requirements and assign qualified resources, overseeing their timely performance and reporting.
  • Conducting regular check-ins with client PM or other client contacts. Communicates relevant information as required and solicits/records customer feedback.
  • Reviewing and auditing project team deliverables for consistency and adequacy of services
  • Serving as an escalation point for team member concerns or issues, assisting with conflict management or dispute resolution and escalating issues to client and/or RAM Management as required.
  • Be responsible for implementing RAM's safety culture and objective of zero incidents across projects; and
  • Other project-specific duties as applicable and/or assigned by a Project Assignment Letter

Ideal Candidate Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in form of a bachelor's degree or diploma from a recognized post secondary institute in any relevant field;
  • Minimum 5 years experience managing complex contracts, with 8+ years industry experience in the utility, transportation, marine, and/or building construction ;
  • Experience in close-out of complex construction contracts and claims management;
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and client portfolios;
  • High self-awareness and emotional intelligence;
  • Willingness and ability to operate through times of uncertainty and rapid growth/pace of change;
  • Interest in networking and growing business development skills. Experience participating in RFP/Proposal submissions and other opportunities;
  • Interest and general understanding of resource management and invoicing;
  • Fluent in English (writing, reading, speaking) and advanced technical writing skills
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite and an aptitude for digital solutions and software including ERP systems;
  • Ability and willingness to work out of the downtown Vancouver office (can be hybrid);
  • Ability and willingness to work with a team that is spread across multiple locations;
  • Candidates should be self managed and have a collaborative approach, show how they work with internal/external teams to achieve deliverables; and
  • Will be working in a growing environment, will need to think outside of the box, be innovative and a problem solver, with a positive demeanor.

Preferred Candidate Experience/Skills

  • Experience in Construction in British Columbia is an asset;
  • Experience working with an EPCM is an asset
  • SCMP related training and certifications are an asset; and
  • Ability and willingness to work on-site when and if required .
