About the role:


Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular Full Time Distribution Assistant to join our dynamic Supply Chain Operations West team.


In this role you will be responsible for para technical functions of the Laboratory and may be assigned any of the duties and responsibilities listed below.

You will adhere to all current work instructions, practice good judgement in the performance of job responsibilities and promote Centre objectives through good interpersonal skills.


Formula for success:

  • Drawing on your warehouse inventory experience, you will be receiving and storing blood, fractionation products and maintaining stock of distribution supplies in accordance with all Canadian Blood Services' Standard Operating Procedures and Good Documentation Practices
  • With your commitment to Excellence, you will be ensuring the safety of blood products through ongoing monitoring of product and product storage equipment (temperature, humidity variations, etc.) as well as performing retrievals and removing outdated products
  • Utilizing your communication and your interpersonal skills, you will be issuing blood and related products to our customers such as Provincial Hospitals and other blood centres, and communicating with hospital teams about orders placed

Desired skills and education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong multitasking skills, work ethic and ability to follow instructions precisely
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal staff and external stakeholders in an effective and professional manner
  • Ability to work with others in a multidisciplinary team environment, as well as independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work variable shifts including days, evenings and weekends
  • Physical ability to perform duties of the position (stoop, kneel, crouch, lift and carry boxes/cartons) and lifting up to 50lbs

What you can expect:

  • This is a float position. This position will normally have a fixed schedule from Sunday to Thursday from 2000 to 0400 when not floating. Rest days are Friday and Saturday. The incumbent will float to other positions to cover vacation/sick if required.
