New Directions is a social service agency offering a wide range of resources and services that foster the hopes and dreams of people and their communities.


This position is responsible for coordinating the activities of the Resources for Adolescent Parents (RAP) program located within Gordon Bell High School.

The coordinator oversees the day-to-day operations of the program (during the school year, and breaks from school), performs program development, and supervises program staff in providing delivery of programming related to supports, education, culture and recreation.

The Coordinator promotes the program in the community, recruits prospective students to the program and performs intakes and assessments.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate, develop, and oversee all aspects of programming activities
  • Oversee case management activities for students and perform intakes and assessments
  • Maintain standards for administration and documentation, aligned with best practice and appropriate risk management
  • Provide effective staff and performance management to ensure optimal support/services are provided to students

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Postsecondary education in an educational or social services field (e.g., social work, psychology, youth, and community support etc.) with experience supporting pregnant and/or parenting youth.
  • Work experience in educational settings, case management and/or counseling.
  • Previous work experience providing supervision to staff is an asset.
  • Experience providing physical, psychological, and social supports to atrisk youth and other vulnerable populations is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous teachings, culture, and history including participating in cultural programming alongside students.
  • Demonstrated computer and technical skills, proficiency with Microsoft Excel /Word and the full Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to continuously learn new database processes. Experience working with SharePoint (or similar) and PowerPoint is considered an asset.
  • Ability to selfmanage time and balance work in order to meet strict timelines for the completion of tasks and competing priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to be diplomatic in handling all situations.
  • Experience working with networking in the community and in facilitating external community partnerships.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with access to a vehicle


The salary range for this full-time position, based on a 35-hour work week is $22.89 per hour to $32.05 per hour ($41,659 to $58,331 per annum), dependent upon education and/or experience.
