  • About The JobThe Director of Leasing will have the primary responsibility of leasing the Company's growing industrial portfolio of approximately 3,500,000 square feet, along with ancillary retail space, located in the Greater Toronto Area. In this capacity the Director of Leasing will work in close collaboration with the internal legal, property management and construction groups, as well as external brokerage teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and analyze the market to gain an indepth understanding of current trends and rates to support the structuring of financiallysound deals
  • Direct brokerage teams in the creation of presentations and marketing materials to attract prospective tenants
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, along with both existing and prospective tenants
  • Source prospective tenants for the portfolio and engage directly with existing tenants regarding lease extensions
  • Conduct property tours with listing brokers and prospective tenants
  • Recommend leasing transactions including summarizing financial viability, rental rates, covenants, options and tenant requirements complete with competitive information to the Senior Management Team
  • Prepare and/or negotiate offers to lease in accordance with approved guidelines
  • Work collaboratively with and provide direction to internal and/or external legal counsel in negotiating and finalizing lease transactions
  • Work with internal construction resources and/or property management to recommend and implement space cleanup work for vacant units as well as landlord's work associated with new leases
  • Provide regular reporting on opportunities and deals in progress to Senior Management Team

Qualifications:

  • 710 years of progressive work experience in industrial leasing on either the landlord or brokerage side
  • Leasing experience in the Greater Toronto Area industrial market is a must
  • Established, strong network of contacts within the Toronto industrial real estate community
  • Excellent business acumen demonstrated by a solid understanding of real estate finance, valuation and general market knowledge
  • Superior customer service skills
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills including negotiation and persuasion, capable of selling ideas and recommendations
  • Knowledge and interpretation of offers to lease and lease documentation
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
