Graduate Early Childhood Education is posted internally and externally for the position of
Family Resource Worker.

We are seeking a Graduate Early Childhood Educator.

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday some evenings are required and one Saturday per month to work within the EarlyON Baby's Breath Teen Parent Family Centre.

Position:
Family Resource Worker

Responsible to:
The Manager of Family and Youth Programs

Purpose of the Position:
To ensure delivery of EarlyON Baby's Breath Teen Parent Family

Centre in a manner that supports the vision of Better Beginnings
Better Futures.

To ensure that the environment of the program provides high-quality experiences for children, families, and educators, fosters the kind of relationships within our program that best promotes children's learning, development, health, and well-being.

Education

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education or equivalent and in good standing with the
College of Early Childhood Educators, or eligible (required)

Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent knowledge of current child development theories and practices, early identification, and intervention and of all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the ELECT Document and How Does Learning Happen.
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills.
  • Effective written, planning, organizational and time management skills.
  • Computer literacy skills.
  • Knowledge of data bases.
  • Current Standard First Aid Certificate and Infant/Child CPR.
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check.
  • Bilingual in French and English is an asset.
  • Be knowledgeable in parent resources available in the Sudbury area.
  • Ability to handle various situations in a tactful and productive manner.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
Specific

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare an environment that supports early learning to encourage all areas of development for children 0-6 years.
  • Provide a range of age-appropriate opportunities promoting child development in all domains of early learning.
  • Ensure that a variety of developmentally appropriate toys and materials are available at all learning centres and changed regularly while keeping core learning environments.
  • Plan and participate in weekly activities that will engage all members of the family.
  • Assist with the general maintenance of the EarlyON Baby's Breath Teen Parent Family Centre.
  • To participate as a team member with weekly meetings, the planning of the monthly calendar and activities.
  • To advocate, build supportive relationships, develop opportunities to meet, make connections and network with other Community Service Providers, School Boards and school Principals and teachers, children and families registered in the program and residents which live in our designated neighborhood and other EarlyON Child and Family
Centers.

  • Demonstrate respect and confidentiality throughout all duties and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate initiative in the completion of tasks.
  • Demonstrate time management skills, and the ability and aptitude to multi-tasking.
  • Other duties as directed.

  • Keep the Manager and relevant others informed as to status of their respective areas of responsibility.
