Reporting to the Lab Manager, the Senior Research Chemist is responsible for conceptualizing and validating new product and technology opportunities to further the water product line. Leading projects within the lab the Senior Research Chemist will build prototypes, develop test plans, and generate reports and presentation materials. The Senior Research Chemist will be involved with supporting commercialization of the new technologies developed through the lab.

With a foundation of integrity, the candidate would use commitment and creativity to drive our organization forward. This position will be based out of our Calgary Water Solutions location.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties
  • Develop, adapt and improve Enerflex Water Solutions products, keeping them competitive and relevant
  • Design prototype units of current or conceptual products
  • Maintain a high level of engagement in industry to support EWS staying ahead of the curve and in the correct direction
  • Find opportunities to capitalize on EWS products, services, or expertise through unconventional thinking
  • Identify current and future gaps in product offerings
  • Develop new technology lab test plans
  • Generate presentation materials and present at technical conferences as applicable
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in chemical technology and contribute to the development of intellectual property
Qualifications
  • 10+ years' experience in produced water and oil and gas
  • M.Sc. Engineering or PhD
  • Experience in research and product development
  • Experience in water chemistry and lab analysis
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and manage lab projects
  • Strong analytical reporting combined with excellent problem solving skills
  • Strong understanding of water chemistry and produced water treatment
  • Computer skills, specifically Microsoft Excel, Word, and MS Project an asset
  • Excellent time management and a self-starter
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple and changing priorities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders
