What you'll do

As the Associate Vice President, Media Strategy & Planning, you will be a core leader of CTC's Retail Media Network, Triangle Retail Media (TRM). Your extensive media expertise will be utilized to shape TRM's strategic direction, growth, and cross-functional engagement throughout the organization. You will also be setting the gold standard in defining the overall media strategy to execute client campaigns by driving superior client results, fostering innovation, and building our reputation in the retail media domain. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Shaping TRM's onsite and offsite media strategy across banners (Canadian Tire, Sport Chek, Mark's), sharing your knowledge and research into market trends, retail media network best practices, and organizational priorities
  • Leading the planning team to create fit-for-purpose media plans to achieve TRM's brands' media objectives to drive best-in-class performance
  • Overseeing the management, launch, and continuous, optimization of TRM campaigns
  • Cultivating a strong partnership within the TRM organization, including sales, account management, ad product and measurement teams
  • Being a thought partner for key meetings with brands and agencies alongside sales teams
  • Collaborating with sales and measurement to create comprehensive post campaign reports that synthesize results and recommend future strategic initiatives
  • Proactively addressing campaign challenges, quickly providing measured remedies
  • Promoting an ethos of excellence within the team to execute on best-in-class retail media practices
  • Collaborating across the broader CTC organization to help ensure TRMs media strategies are fueling the CTC fly wheel

What you bring

  • 8+ years of experience in the digital media/advertising industry, with a strong preference for experience in retail media networks
  • Deep knowledge of the online advertising space with an understanding of exchange and audience-based selling and the technologies that enable it
  • Deep knowledge and ability to counsel on the digital media environment, trends / technology, agency landscape, and investment strategies
  • Expert-level proficiency in data analysis and a proven track record of driving growth within the digital advertising space
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, for example with merchandising and measurement
  • Experience leading a team of 10+ reports in media planning, strategy, and execution
  • Ability to lead, hire and develop talent across strategy, planning, activation, and other technical/media focused roles
  • Results and detail oriented, expects and requires innovation from their team
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
