Cell Operator

Reports To:
Manufacturing Supervisor

Summary:

Under close supervision, is responsible for assembling and performing quality inspections on various cabinets within a single work-cell environment. Must learn the principles of self-balancing flow manufacturing and follow Bobrick standards of safety, product quality, productivity and policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Able to read travelers and follow verbal instruction to pull correct components for job.
  • Must be able to transfer information from the traveler to the timecard. Verify accuracy.
  • Being able to control electronic computer and peripheral electronic data processing equipment such as mouse and keyboard to process data and information and report any error to the lead or supervisor.
  • Select and set up air operated hand tools and fixtures on work bench.
  • Familiarize yourself with the Boundary Boards and 4 Category Quality System.
  • Must be able to identify the 4 Category Defects while working in the cell.
  • Check incoming and outgoing materials for quality and quantity. Prepare necessary documentation as required and report to the department lead.
  • Produce complete cabinet assemblies from spot
- welded sheet metal and other components.

  • Feed parts in and out of preset automatic welder and actuate palm buttons to complete welding.
  • Perform moderate amount fitting, aligning and polishing to a diversified line of sheet metal fabricated components, cabinets etc.
  • Stack completed product on skids and move to storage.
  • Monitor and verify that the quality and quantity of work performed meets Bobrick standards.
  • Maintain the production process, including self
- balancing flow process, in a capable and aligned state and work to continuously improve.

  • Maintain a healthy and safe environment by keeping the work area clean, materials positioned correctly and follow safe operating procedures at all times.
  • Perform all operations in a single workcell including but not limited to stripping, assembly, welding, packing operations and basic material layout.
  • Perform daily preuse inspection checklist on equipment.
  • Assist with material handling operations.
  • Report any and all safety hazards
  • Communicate any issue that prevents employee from meeting set objectives
  • Follow the prescribed manufacturing processes at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and must learn the basic principles of self balancing flow manufacturing and train on all functions needed for assigned cell.

Computer skills:

  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to navigate with the mouse and use of keyboard to enter accurate information

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 6 to 12 months related experience in sheet metal manufacturing, welding and in a manufacturing setting
  • Assembly work preferred
  • Self-Balancing Flow manufacturing knowledge or experience is an asset
  • Good knowledge of shop and safety practices is essential.
  • Interpersonal skills and attention to details.

Language Skills:

  • Required to write time attendance and fill out necessary paperwork.
  • Must be able to communicate orally and in writing, giving clear and concise messages.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Must be able to complete simple mathematics including adding, subtracting, multiplication and division.
