With 12,000 employees and growing, our workforce has the skills, experience, and resourcefulness to realize opportunities, respond to project challenges, optimize solutions and bring lasting value to our clients.

We're currently embarking on an exciting journey to a more sustainable future, as we rise to the challenges of climate risk and opportunities abounding in the global energy transition.

We recognize the world needs mined commodities to achieve the economic, social and environmental transformation it desires. But, the world also needs mining to reset for the future.

North America is an important part of that future, and we're thrilled to introduce our business, and our unique approach to contract mining, to Ontario and surrounding parts of Canada.

As the Production Superintendent at our surface metal and non-metal mine in Ontario, Canada, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of the production department.

You will be responsible for ensuring that production targets are met safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies and regulations.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will lead a team of production personnel and collaborate with other departments to optimize production processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Lead and supervise the production team to achieve production targets while adhering to safety, health, environmental, and quality standards.

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies related to mine operations, safety, and environmental stewardship.

Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and other departments to coordinate equipment maintenance and repair activities to minimize disruptions to production.

Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement among production personnel through effective communication, training, and development programs.

Prepare and analyze production reports, KPIs, and performance metrics to track progress against targets and identify opportunities for improvement.

Manage budgetary and cost control activities for the production department, including labor, equipment, and supplies.
Support the implementation of new technologies, processes, and systems to enhance production efficiency and effectiveness.
Participate in meetings, reviews, and audits to provide updates on production performance, challenges, and initiatives.
Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team of production personnel.
Thorough understanding of surface mining operations, including drilling, blasting, hauling, and processing of metal and non-metal ores.
Proficiency in mine planning and scheduling software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to mining operations in Ontario.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and numerical skills with the ability to interpret production data and performance metrics.
Bachelor's degree in mining engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production leadership role within the mining industry, preferably in surface metal and non-metal mines.

Valid Mine Supervisor Certification or equivalent qualification recognized by regulatory authorities in Ontario.
Familiarity with relevant surface mining equipment, processes, and technologies.
Willingness to work in a remote mining location and adhere to rotational schedules as required.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Able to stand for extended periods of time, walk long distances, and climb ladders
Able to work for extended shifts
Although optional, we have a preference that all Thiess employees are vaccinated against COVID-19 and other serious illnesses.
