  • As a Strategic Legislative Analyst, you will lead the development and management of the City Clerk's Office Council and Administrative policies ensuring the policies support Council strategies, City Clerk's Office lines of service, and Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging objectives within the City Clerk's Office and The City of Calgary. You will also provide support for written communications for the management team and support the service line reporting for the City Clerk's Office.

Primary duties include:

  • Identify gaps in processes and procedures that support policy execution and adherence.
  • Make recommendations based on research and data analysis.
  • Coordinate or execute the drafting of policies compiling research and facilitation data to support the purpose and outcomes of the policies.
  • Set standards and review schedules and work to ensure adherence to timelines.
  • Initiate, manage, and complete project management documentation (project charters, project plans) in accordance with established City of Calgary project management methodologies.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and briefing materials for senior leadership.
  • Draft formal correspondence, Council reports, key messages and information on key issues.
  • Work with senior management and business unit leaders to complete performance reporting, service risk registers, and other corporate and governance reporting requirements.
  • Provide support for other documentation and projects as required.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Economics, Law, Geography or a related discipline with at least 2 years of experience in research, data analysis, consultation, project management and report writing.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
  • A valid Class 5 Drivers Licence or provincial equivalent and the use of a personal vehicle for work is also required.
  • Experience working in local government will be considered an asset.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate at all levels in a large and complex organization along with the ability to think strategically with welldeveloped analytical skills.
  • Selfdirected with the ability to work independently and effectively lead multiple projects in a fastpaced, dynamic work environment.
