DESCRIPTION


Michels Canada is currently searching for a dedicated HSE Lead to join our team The HSE Lead plays a key role in ensuring the successful implementation of health, safety and environmental programs across our operations teams.

In this role you, your expertise will contribute to maintaining a safe and secure work environment for our employees and subcontractors while adhering to industry standards and regulations.

This position is based out of our regional office located in Nisku, AB. Upon hire, this position will be assigned to an active microtunneling project located in Edmonton, AB.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions. Stop work in the area of an identified health or safety problem until resolved.
  • Drive the development, recommendation, and implementation of safety programs, practices, and procedures (including operations procedures considering all relevant risks, hazards, and controls.)
  • Oversee and perform inspections to identify hazards and potential risks for corrective actions.
  • Conduct employee new hire health and safety orientations, identify, monitor, evaluate and track all health and safety activities through audits and other records keeping methods.
  • Ensure all employees have adequate PPE available to them as necessary or as requested.
  • Support adherence to all company health, safety and environmental standards, policies and procedures while maintaining ongoing knowledge of local, provincial, and federal guidelines.
  • Uphold company culture and core values by adhering to Michels Canada's standards and Policies and working with others to promote and preserve our values while conducting your duties to contribute to a positive and professional work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

:

  • Post secondary diploma or certificate in Health, Safety and Environment (Ex. Occupational Health, Safety, Environment; NCSO)
  • 5+ years of experience in HSE management, preferably in infrastructure (water and sewer), rehabilitation, open cut, trenchless crossings and / or tunneling.
  • Indepth knowledge of federal, provincial, and local HSE regulations and standards.
  • Proven track record in developing, implementing, and managing HSE programs and initiatives.
  • Valid class 5 drivers license and clean drivers abstract.
