Position Information:


The Manager, Translation Services, is responsible for the planning, organization, execution, and continuous improvement of all aspects related to the effective delivery of Translation Services.


The Manager oversees a translation team and ensures the seamless delivery of translation services to a wide variety of TOH's internal clients and ensures materials are provided are high quality and align with TOH's brand and style guidelines.

The Manager plays a key role in TOH's ability to function in both of Canada's official languages, so it respects its legislative requirements under Ontario's French Language Services Act and ensures it continues to meet its designation as a bilingual institution.


What you will bring:

  • Minimum four (4) year Undergraduate Degree in Translation;
  • Certified member of ATIO or OTTIAQ;
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in translation, revision and proofreading both from English to French and from French to English. Excellent knowledge of oral and written communication in both French and English languages, including syntax, spelling, grammar (level A+ in both French and English). Thorough knowledge of plain language principles and guidelines;
  • Minimum five (5) years experience in leading a Translation team as well as Human and Financial Resource Management;
  • Three (3) years of leadership experience;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage urgent and complex projects an ability to work effectively under pressure, sometimes outside normal working hours;
  • Indepth knowledge of the Canadian language industry and mastery of translation, editing and writing functions applied to the communication and marketing activities of a hospital or other large organization;
  • A demonstrated commitment to quality customer service and prove leadership and problemsolving. A high level of discretion and demonstrated teamwork and interpersonal skills;
  • Superior translation and revision skills;
  • Experience managing a translation service;
  • Ability to carry out terminological research and edit texts for plain language;
  • Strong customer service skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;

  • Proficiency in English and French oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
