Some of what you will do
The Print Specialist is charged with growing sales and margin within assigned categories.

This position will create new print products, coordinate marketing efforts, manage day to day vendor relationships and develop pricing strategies that keep assigned categories on track to hit annual goals, drive sustained growth and capture market share.

The Specialist will work cross-functionally to achieve desired outcomes, including developing and executing communication to store teams that keep them informed and drive the right selling behaviors.

Each day will be fast paced, challenging, rewarding and meaningful.

Specifically, you will
Financial
:

Owns sales and margin plan for assigned categories in the Print Division

  • Executes category growth plans through line extensions and development of new print products
  • Maintains accurate expected costs and margin
  • Works with vendor partners and influences outcomes that maximize sales and margin
  • Set and maintain pricing, ensuring it is in line with pricing policies and strategies for the category
  • Execute pricing strategies that maximize sales and profit
  • Conducts monthly sales & margin reviews of owned categories and provides insights and recommendation to grow categories and achieve budgets
Omni-channel Category Development

  • Executes regular sales line reviews ensuring that plans are tracking to target
  • Implement instore visual merchandising elements, samples and tool kits
  • Leads the Omnichannel promotional calendar that support print category and channel growth plan
  • Works closely with the Integrated Marketing team on development of creative briefs for all marketing campaigns, and facilitates the execution of all marketing campaigns in the appropriate channel of business with retail stores, online, and sales teams
  • Executes category launch plans, and maintains workback schedules ensuring key stakeholders are engaged, and deliverables are executed on time, as promised
  • Helps to manages retail outsource vendor relationships including contract negotiation (costing, market development funds, VR), SLA deliverables, invoice reconciliation, and promotional planning and forecasting
Works Cross-Functionally and influences outcomes with key Staples Stakeholders

  • Develops marketing synergies with peers in the Division and all channels
  • Stays close to industry trends and makes recommendations on growth opportunities in the Division
  • Partners on Digital project requests ensuring accurate prioritization of efforts
  • Work with Retail Operations on divisional communication that influences associate behaviours and activities in support of achieving key business outcomes

Some of what you need

  • Post secondary diploma with a focus on retail management, project management, merchandising and/or equivalent experience.
  • 13 years of category management, progressive sales and operations experience
  • Print Services industry experience is an asset
  • Understanding of financial/sales data and ability to analyze the data.
  • Exposure to working in project teams / collaborative work environment is an asset
  • An understanding of marketing campaigns and/or exposure to online marketing and social media
  • Comprehensive knowledge of category related product currently available, coupled with a high awareness of industry trends and new product directions.
  • Print knowledge is an asset
  • Proactive and selfmotivated work style with proven ability to support multiple projects in a dynamic environment
  • Strong and effective communication (both written & oral) and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of all MS Office products with a primary focus on PowerPoint and Excel
