Key Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Foreman include, but are not limited to:

  • Be a dependable teammate.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of the park or recreational construction project.
  • Lead and direct people, equipment, and resources in all phases of the project's construction.
  • Being handson in the field and involved in all aspects of project construction including onsite training and competency checking new and upcoming employees.
  • Engage in open communication with the Superintendent and Project Managers and report any issues which could affect the project plan.
  • Organize and coordinate the daily activities of all crew members and utilize corrective action to keep the project on time and on budget.
  • Plan work in an efficient and effective order, review and adhere to construction schedules, ensuring milestones and completion dates are met.
  • Ensure company equipment is lawfully operated, cared for, maintained and used effectively.
  • Read and interpret project plans and specifications.
  • Promote, execute, and adhere to the company's safety program, and ensure all employees, subcontractors and consultants adopt safety as a culture.
  • Follow the company's core values, vision, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Class 5 Driver's License is required.
  • Criminal Record check is required.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Foreman (preference given to experience in playgrounds, spray parks, or general landscape construction.)
  • Knowledge of landscape construction methods, park construction materials and industry requirements.
  • Must have extensive skid steer experience.
  • CET, AutoCAD Experience is considered an asset.
  • Installation crew Foreman experience (i.e., windows, doors, fences, flooring, concrete, irrigation, landscaping, horticulture) is considered an asset.
  • A Trade ticket would be considered an asset
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Outoftown travel is required.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry up to 50 LBS on a regular basis.
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
  • Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol requirements.

  • Depending on experience, as determined by GLVT management, and a field test (required for top wages).
