The Directorate of Power Reactor Regulation (DPRR) is seeking talented and qualified individuals to strengthen our group of Regulatory Program Officers at the REG5 and REG6 level.
The results of this process will be used to staff future positions with similar qualifications and various tenures including term, acting, assignment and indeterminate.

What You'll Do
As a Regulatory Program Officer, you will:
- Support DPRR's compliance or licensing functions
- Lead or contribute to the execution of Power Reactor Regulatory Program (PRRP) regulatory activities (both licensing and compliance), such as technical assessments of licensee submissions, participating in inspections and event reviews
- Lead or contribute to the development and monitoring of performance of PRRP regulatory activity plans
- Support or coordinate reporting and engagement activities
- Prepare or contribute to Commission Member Document (CMDs)
- Contribute to or lead projects such as improving the Power Reactor Regulatory Program
Essential Qualifications:
Education:
Graduation from a recognized university, with a degree in Science or Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education (minimum College) and relevant job experience.
Language Requirements:
Various language profiles
Experience:
As a REG 5 Regulatory Program Officer, you have experience:
- Working in a project team;
- Supporting assessments, inspections, event reviews, and/or providing input to process improvements; and
- Writing technical reports, summary documents and/or briefing notes.
As a REG 6 Regulatory Program Officer, you have experience:
- Working in a multi-disciplinary project team;
- Application of safety, technical, or quality assurance principles;
- Leading assessments, participating in inspections, event reviews, and/ or providing input to process improvements; and
- Writing and reviewing technical reports, summary documents and/or briefing notes.
Knowledge of:

- The design, operation, maintenance, safety assessment or licensing of Canadian NPPs
- The Canadian nuclear safety regulatory framework, including the Nuclear Safety and Control Act, regulations and regulatory documents, as applied to nuclear power plants
- Application of risk information to determine safety significance to inform regulatory position
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Prepare and review technical reports

Asset Qualification:
- Experience in Nuclear Power Plant design, construction, operation, maintenance and safety assessment
- Leading/ Participating in nuclear power plant regulatory oversight using one or more of the Safety Control Areas (SCAs)
- Knowledge of the CNSC safety control areas or DPRR specific areas relevant to power reactor licensing and compliance
- Knowledge of project management principles to define, plan, monitor, measure and report on projects
