The Lambton Kent District School Board is seeking Registered Social Workers to support school staff to implement proactive interventions and strategies and build capacity of mental health awareness through education.

The Social Workers will work collaboratively with community agencies and partners to ensure seamless and integrated service delivery for youth and their families.

The Social Worker will serve as a member of our system LKDSB Multi-disciplinary teams and liaise with school administration and staff.


Qualifications/Experience:

  • Successful completion of a Masters Social Work Degree program or equivalent from an accredited university;
  • Registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers or College of Registered Psychotherapist of Ontario;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the role of Social Worker or Psychotherapist in a child welfare, educational, medical/psychiatric or other related setting would be an asset.

Other Key Skills & Knowledge:

  • Work in collaboration with school teams to support student wellbeing and compliment inclass learning by providing resources to classroom teachers and others as appropriate;
  • Partner with school administrators to support preventative pupil absenteeism strategies and to address related issues;
  • Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of the issues that impact upon students and their school experience;
  • Support students to develop everyday resiliency strategies in order to be successful in the school environment;
  • Knowledge and experience in working with community agencies and partners to ensure seamless and integrated service delivery for youth and their families;
  • Participate as a member of the LKDSB multidisciplinary team and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary school team environment;
  • Knowledge of and experience in incorporating Indigenous perspectives and resources to support students is an asset;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently;
  • Experience leading presentations related to the social development of youth;
  • The successful applicant must have their own vehicle and possess a valid driver's license; travel throughout the district will be required.

Position Effective Date & Length:

Temporary CUPE, 35 hours/weeks

Salary:
$43.15/hour-$45.84/hour
