The Regina Open Door Society (RODS) is a non-profit organization that provides settlement and integration services to refugees and immigrants in Regina.

The Regina Open Door Society is seeking a qualified individual to staff the full-time term position of After Hour RAP Case Worker.

The term for this position is June 1,2023 to March 31,2024.

Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP) works in coordination with other IRCC-funded and other community programs. RAP provides newcomers with initial settlement support to ensure they are able to settle in the city.

This includes services such as receiving the client at the airport, setting up & support at the temporary accommodation, providing information, orientation, doing needs assessment & referrals, etc.

As part of this position will also ensure that suites have all daily need supplies at all times, clean and disinfect any common areas regularly, and ensure communication with the program support team to arrange for repairs and resupplying of equipment and items at the temporary accommodation.


Accessing RAP services will help newcomers meet their initial settlement needs and goals and transition them to the overall settlement program.

Throughout this process, the newcomers are connected with various IRCC-funded programs and wider community services.

Desired qualifications/education**:

  • A Post-Secondary education and 2 to 3 years of related work experience are position requirements. Additional requirements include a criminal record check, a clean child abuse registry record, a valid class 5 driver's license, and clean driver Fluency in the Arabic Language will be an asset

Job Description**:

Suite Cleaning/Maintenance of Reception House**:


This position will identify the need for cleaning and maintenance at the Reception House, and with approval, arrange for the work to be completed.

The specific areas of cleaning that will be overseen by the position include the following:

  • Clean living room as necessary
  • Vacuum all carpeted areas
  • Wash other areas and wax when necessary
  • Clean kitchen including stoves, ovens and floors
  • Wash areas with grease buildup
  • Wash all counters and tables
  • Check all cupboards and damp dust and/or wash them when necessary
  • Wash refrigerators inside and out and defrost them as needed
  • Clean bathrooms including sinks, bathtubs, floors, showers, toilets
  • Damp dust registers, windowsills and light fixtures as necessary
  • Clean all inside windows and mirrors as necessary
  • Clean bedrooms as necessary
  • Change sheets and wash soiled linens including towels
  • Wash comforters, blankets, curtains, sheets and mattress protectors as necessary
  • Wash any dishes, pots, that may have been left dirty
The position will be directly responsible for the following:

  • Ensure that each suite is always supplied with toilet paper and clean towels
  • After cleaning, ensure that furniture is in its proper place
  • Any leaking faucets, blocked drains, repairs, must be reported to the SFC Managers
  • Report any equipment/appliance repairs to the SFC Managers
  • Organize and maintain the activity room; coordinate the schedule
  • Maintain necessary supplies and for safety ensure they are locked in the supply room (Purchases must go through the SFC Director)
  • Monitor clients and visitors to the temporary accommodation
  • Maintain the external care of the house (i.e. raking leaves, snow removal, light repair)
  • Report any mechanical, plumbing, security or maintenance issues immediately to Settlement

After Hour Case Worker Responsibilities**:

  • Deliver the RAP program according to IRCC guidelines and follow RODS policies & administrative procedures
  • Delivers RAP Orientation in person and remotely
  • Contributes to overall RAP planning and
  • Coordinate timely and effective port of entry services, including assisting with arrival (i.e. airport reception, basic life skills, transportation)
  • Conduct needs assessments and referrals that respond to the immediate needs of clients after hours to accommodate clients' needs
  • Provide appropriate temporary accommodation that supports the timely and effective delivery of RAP services with a mínimal burden on clients.
  • Support clients with basic life skills while at the RH
  • Assist with the purchase of household items, groceries and meals for clients
  • Work in collaboration with HFSE to assist with medical support (i.e. 911, COVID19 follow up, health/wellbeing check)
  • Provide evening information/orientation (blended model) in the temporary accommodation
  • Maintain the Activity room as office space to deliver orientation and support to the clients
  • Coordinates orientation schedules
