Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required
Masters Degree preferred
Member in good standing of College of Nurses of Ontario
Certificate and/or demonstrated experience in adult learning preferred
CPNC Certificate perioperative nursing (preferred)
PANC Perianesthesia nurses certification (preferred)

Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of the ORNAC Standards (operating room nurses association of Canada) and/or NAPAN Standards (national perianesthesia nurses) preferredSkill, Ability and Experience:
Five (5) years recent experience in nursing education/ leadership within clinical and/or professional practice environments, preferred
Comprehensive knowledge of the CNO Standards and Guidelines for Nursing and other regulatory bodies within Ontario,
Demonstrated knowledge of evidenced based care models,
Knowledge of relevant legislation impacting inter-professional care,
Knowledge of RNAO Best Practices and the role of Best Practice Spotlight Organization,
Demonstrated skills in day-to-day problem solving essential,
Strong leadership, negotiation, and team building skills are essential,
Good working knowledge of Quality improvement principles and methodologies,
Ability to use related information systems tools (Meditech, Entry Point, MS Word),
Excellent oral and written communication skills

Principal Duties:
Reports to the Director, Surgical Program and works closely with Program Managers to provide the direction and leadership required to support the programs' clinical practice needs
Facilities and champions an inter-professional approach to problem solving and decision making by the patient care team around care models and nursing practice
Facilitates development of inter-professional practice initiatives
Works collaboratively with clinical program leadership teams, clinical process support and Knowledge Management to facilitate clinical change processes and leadership development initiatives
Works with members of the Program to focus on achieving the hospital strategic directions and patient satisfaction goals
In partnership with the Program Manager, works to develop annual objectives and program priorities focusing on professional practice and collaborating with the Manager who focuses on operations
Collaborates with professional practice team to ensure Evidence Based Best Practices are developed and implemented
Accountable for communicating benchmarks (i.e. scope of practice parameters) for professional specific standards or practice
Implements consultation to other leaders for professional specific issues and development of practice based policies
Communicates professions' scope of practice and assists with resolution on scope of practice issues
Promotes interdisciplinary patient care across the organization
Identifies and develops plans for the implementation of best practice care delivery models that support the clinical programs' goals and objectives
Works collaboratively with Human Resources for recruitment, retention and staff development activities
Assures that budgetary guidelines are met by monitoring monthly expenses and revenues; responsible for productivity improvements and cost efficiencies
