Job Description: This course will focus on examining legal, constitutional, and practical aspects of hate crimes investigation, prosecution, and defense, along with regular Criminal Code offenses like criminal harassment and mischief. The course will cover constitutional issues surrounding acts like 'protest' through offenses such as mischief, and how these should be taken into account when making decisions on charges, resolutions, or sentencing. Guest speakers from the police, defense, and Crown with relevant expertise will also be featured.

Requirements: The ideal candidate must hold an LL.B., J.D., or equivalent, and be a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario (or equivalent). They should possess significant expertise in Canadian criminal law, specifically in the realm of hate-motivated crimes. Previous teaching experience is a plus. The Common Law Section retains the right to consider candidates not meeting all requirements if their selection would benefit the program, course, students, or for a relevant reason.
