The Opportunity:


At WSP, our team is growing, and as a result we're adding Construction Inspectors to our Water and Wastewater group.

Reporting to the Team Lead of Contract Administration, this position will be responsible for managing the site inspection multi-million-dollar water/wastewater and other infrastructure construction projects, such as large diameter municipal water mains and sewers.


Your primary focus will be the site inspection and support the contract administration of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects by open cut, trenchless technologies, and rehabilitation.

A day in the life:

  • Work in field offices, calculating quantities, help preparing monthly payments, finalization of contract items and perform general office work
  • Perform and/or inspect quality assurance (QA) acceptance on watermains, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, maintenance holes, road resurfacing and reconstruction, sidewalk, grading, concrete, asphalt, electrical and granular
  • Ensure that the infrastructure complies to the contract documents and drawings and maintain a record of field deviations for the completion of record drawings
  • Maintain detailed daily diaries of contractor's work, contract progress and inspection milestones
  • Ensure inspection tasks are completed and recorded in a prompt and accurate manner
  • Recognize when extra work needs to be done and report to the Contract Administrator
  • Identification, documentation and assessment for rating of deficiencies (deviations from Contractor's Quality Control Process and or OPSS standards) in the contractor's work
  • Ensure approved construction materials are used and acquired from approved sources and a record is kept of such materials
  • Ensure contractor adheres to all contract requirements, as per Contract Administrator's direction; e.g. legal, environmental, construction standards, protection of wildlife, etc.
  • Ensure contractor applies the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHIMIS, Environmental Act, Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Waste Management regulations in a manner consistent with the contract
  • Be a company representative and act on behalf of the company
  • Travel and work on contracts throughout Ontario for lengthy periods at a time
  • Other duties as assigned
