The Career Services Facilitator will work with a team to develop and deliver a new initiative, _In Her Shoes Digital Skills for the Workforce_, and support the on-going delivery of _In Her Shoes Uplift Reskilling in Data Analytics_.


Digital Skills for the Workforce (DSW) increases digital literacy and employability of women and gender diverse individuals, focusing on marginalized communities across Canada.

By providing accessible and practical digital skills training, we aim to close the gender gap in the Canadian labour market.

The Career Services Facilitator will identify the accessibility needs of potential DSW participants; coordinates and delivers off-site outreach opportunities; facilitates group learning in the focused areas of digital communication in the workplace, collaboration for the digital workforce, and adapting to online recruiting.


Uplift Reskilling in Data Analytics (Uplift) earns participants a Certificate of Professional Learning of Data Analytics while being coached in job readiness and job retention strategies.

The Career Services Facilitator plays a key role to identify the needs of both employers and Uplift participants; facilitates group discussions; works on a 1:1 basis for customized career coaching, and to coordinate mentorship opportunities, placement opportunities and training opportunities.


Contributions & Impact:

Recruitment of Participants:

  • Perform marketing and outreach activities to recruit participants
  • Perform intakes including needs and risk assessments, and qualification assessments as prescribed by program guidelines
  • Work with local community and/or justice groups and other YW departments to identify accessibility issues to DSW programming and identify a delivery method to overcome these barriers for each audience

Networking:

  • Initiate and foster relationships with various stakeholders, training providers and corporate leaders to assess needs, identify opportunities, develop supports, and track successes
  • Actively recruit employers and seeks out job placement opportunities, including identifying and contacting new prospective employers in specialized technology and advanced manufacturing fields
  • Develop intentional relationships to identify ongoing employment gaps

Programming Delivery:

  • Design and facilitate learning opportunities in the area of job seeker marketing
  • Adapt instructional strategies and materials according to the needs of the participants, funders and/or the employer partners
  • Deliver Digital Skills For the Workforce programming customized for the needs and learning levels of each audience as directed from the collaborative program agreement. (Standardized training will be provided via a trainthetrainer method developed by the collaborative consultant.)

Job Retention Support:

  • Conduct ongoing research to find employers, community resources and supporting programs to develop opportunities for participants following their certificate training
  • Assist participants to make successful transitions into their new positions
  • Research and plan for targeted, individualized learning opportunities and job marketing action plans that meet the needs and qualifications of each individual participant
  • Assist employers and clients with job maintenance and retention

Supporting Participants:

  • Coach participants to develop and enhance their career management skills through individualized support such as job search strategies, offer evaluation, and salary negotiation coaching, best practices for networking, writing résumés and preparing for job interviews, etc.
  • Pair participants with quality mentors in their field
  • Identify goals and barriers to participant success; work with participants to create action plans to achieve their goals.

Assessment, Evaluation & Reporting:

  • Evaluate, monitor and document participants' progress and activities.
  • Provide accurate and timely activity reports as prescribed by each program funders
  • Maintain financial tracking

You have

  • Relevant experience coaching through all aspects of a job search.
  • Ability to work with a team in a performancebased system with a proven track record of meeting targets and deadlines in a fastpaced environment with mínimal supervision
  • Knowledge of instructional methods and experience developing and delivering training content with excellent communication and presentation skills. Experience coaching digital skills development strongly desired.
  • Understanding or experience of specialized technology and digital work environments
  • High level of human relations and negotiation skills to establish and maintain appropriate communication links with participants, partners, funders, collaborators and stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office 365 Suite and digital methods of communication and the ability to trouble shoot with participants on both during DSW learning environments.
