Purpose


Responsible for leading and managing a team of Payroll Analysts in completing activities related to the payroll and time processes.

This role acts as an escalation point in resolving time/leave data discrepancies/errors, and ensures all activities are complete in accordance with the Bank's policies and procedures, and standard regulations.


Accountabilities

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
  • Assist with managing the biweekly payroll process using the SAP Payroll System
  • Leads and manages the Payroll team in completing activities related to the payroll and time processes
  • Facilitates the investigation of time/leave data discrepancies/errors, resolves errors as required
  • Completes monthend and yearend closings and respective summary reporting
  • Holds self and team accountable for ensuring the accurate administration, remittance and reporting of payroll related activities in compliance with relevant employment standards and legislations
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and prioritization for all activities
  • Provides expertise on matters related to payroll and time, resolves escalated medium risk inquiries or concerns
  • Seeks opportunities to improve/enhance payroll processes and delivery, provides insights and recommending solutions to Sr. Manager, Payroll
  • Understands how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in daytoday activities and decisions
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations within his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of daytoday business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct
  • Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team

Education and Skill requirements

  • Postsecondary Degree or Diploma in Accounting or Business or related field
  • Experience with a large ERP payroll system such as SAP or PeopleSoft is an asset but not a must
  • Payroll Designation from the National Payroll Institute
  • Completed or in progress
  • Previous (25 years) experience in payroll operations
  • Intermidate to advance skills using Excel
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of Bank policies and procedures
  • Strong knowledge of Organizational structure and complexity
  • Strong understanding of payroll policies and processes
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Attentive to details and deadlines; ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proven supervisory/leadership experience
  • Strong analytical skills
