Job Description

The District Manager (DM) is responsible for leading the strategic direction of their assigned employees, ensuring safe, effective operations with a client-centered focus. Operating in a diverse and competitive environment, the DM will provide leadership with a priority focus on client service and delivery to drive successful client outcomes for continued growth and success. Collaboration with other functional and support teams (Finance, Supply Chain, HR, Safety, , regional offices and others will be vital to keeping open lines of communication, ensuring safe, effective, and high standard of service delivery. The DM will always perform work and ensure adherence to FLINT's core values and exemplary ethical standards.

NOTE: This job posting is an expression of interest for a planned hire in October.

What would you be doing?

Leadership to multi-location employees including:Recruitment and optimal department resourcing Orientation and onboardingPerformance management and accountabilityEmployee engagement and retentionEmployee development and succession planning All aspects of operational, project, financial, workload planning, management, and results including:Forecasting (workload, short and long-term) Profit and loss (P&L)Budgeting & expense managementUtilizationResourcing and sharing of resources across districts.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Relationship Management Ensuring high-performing culture of project delivery and operational success. Collaborate with others including direct reports to identify deficiencies, areas of opportunities to provide recommendations and implement action plans to drive effective operations and profitability. Mentorship and technical expertise to direct reports, stakeholders, and clients for site assessment, remediation, and reclamation. Lead and implement strategic business strategies including business plans and alignment with corporate objectives. Business development, cross-selling, proposals, and marketing to grow and expand the business line within regional areas. Leading, implementing and compliance of safety programs including:Champion and promote a culture of health and safety.Proactive approach to safety to identify and address hazards, ensuring compliance of health and safety of all employees. Administrative duties including claims, invoices, and all other paperwork is done within timelines. Other projects and assignments as required.

Proven ability to develop strong working relationships with individuals from various backgrounds and organizations. Able to prioritize work and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic and productive team environment. Proactive approach to problem solving with a strong ability to take initiative. Strong teamwork, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills. Proficient in English, both written and verbal communication required. Physically capable of performing all necessary duties of the job, including but not limited to heavy pulling, pushing and lifting (up to 50 lbs), climbing, shovelling, bending, twisting, etc.

Education:

Technical Diploma or University Degree in environmental science or related discipline. Must possess or be eligible to obtain the appropriate professional designation. Other education which may include business management, project management or other related technical specialties.

Experience:

More than 12+ years of relevant environmental consulting experience. More than 5 years leading a team.

Leadership and Mentorship:

Direct Reports: Employees outlined in the organizational structure. Indirect Reports/Others: Employees reporting to their direct reports, and all other employees with the organization including contractors. As a leadership position, this role is highly self-directed partnering closely with others to achieve goals and objectives.
