Full-time Permanent Position

Mildred's-Lightbourn School (SMLS) is a top independent school for girls from JK through Grade 12. Our aim is to involve each girl in a unique real-world learning journey where she discovers her individual paths within a supportive community.

To back our vision of empowered young women influencing and reshaping the world, we are presently on the lookout for a Director, Community Relations.

  • Build connections within our diverse community through meaningful conversations and strong relationships
  • Create a community relations strategy in collaboration with the Head of School
  • Enhance community relationships with various stakeholders
  • Engage all members of the SMLS community effectively

Community Relations Reports to: Head of School

Liaises with: Senior Leadership Team Members, Marketing & Communications, Enrolment, Development, Parents, Faculty, Students, Staff, Volunteers, Education Partners, Third Party Providers/Partners, Families (past, current, prospective), Community Members

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field
  • Demonstrated track record in building sustainable relationships
  • Experience in Independent School (preferred)
  • Management experience in programs and people

Computer Skills: Mac, Google, Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, Social Media Platforms

Working Conditions: In-person position with shared office at the school. Evening and weekend work occasionally required.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a clear community relations strategy aligned with the school's plan
  • Design and execute community engagement programs
  • Plan outreach programs supporting the community
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver impactful actions
  • Support the lifecycle of community relations programs
  • Strengthen engagement within the community through various initiatives

Requires Bachelor's degree and 8+ years related experience.
