Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Project Coordinator to facilitate the smooth acquisition of permits for our residential construction projects.

You assist the project team to obtain building permits, permits for a structure to be altered, or other approvals that may be required.

Obtaining documentation from relevant departments, various consultants and review them to ensure project documentation is ready to submit to the reviewing agency for approval.

Your work will involve dealing with Architects, Engineers, Planners and other consultants in order to effectively maintain project timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain and coordinate all relevant information, documents and drawings involved in the preparation of building permit submissions, mainly for residential projects
  • Responsible for the collaboration of information, communication and project meeting facilitation with the Land Development, Product Development, Construction, Contracts, Legal, Accounting and other team disciplines
  • Ensure sitings are accurate for zoning compliance (setback, coverage, grading etc.)
  • Ensure sitings include all lot features are incorporated including but not limited to fencing, retaining walls, rear lot catch basins, lookouts, walk outs etc.
  • Ensure all information follows all the respective approval requirements and regulations for each of the municipalities and approval authorities for which projects are involved. (i.e. OBC, Zoning Bylaw, design control, engineering, acoustical requirements etc.)
  • Liaison with Architectural Control Firm/Group for approval of sitings, building elevations, materials and exterior colour packages
  • Manage the approvals of site plans and block elevations by the Architectural Control Firm/Group
  • Serve as the main point of contact between the project team and various regulatory bodies
  • Manage the processing of all building permit fees, development charges and water meter fees
  • Provide weekly updates and reports on the status of all work being undertaken, by project, including communication of timelines and advise of any potential risks

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in a related field (e.g., construction management, planning, civil engineering, or architecture).
  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience with a home builder developer
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Share Point, Outlook etc.)
  • Newstar software experience considered an asset
