ROLE OVERVIEW

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage, influence and empower direct reports to execute the required and planned works to ensure performance targets are achieved
  • Ensure well developed production and maintenance schedules are in place for mining to enable the contractual requirements to be met
  • Ensure production and operations outcomes are monitored and reported to guarantee weekly, monthly and quarterly targets are achieved
  • Demonstrate and maintain a high standard of personal safety, safety leadership and a commitment to the safety of fellow workers
  • Foster a healthy, safe and respectful workplace aligned with Thiess overarching policy
  • Promote prosperous healthy client relationships to network and identify new business opportunities Performs other related duties as assigned

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Extensive knowledge of mining methods, engineering, and planning
  • Understanding of equipment maintenance and operation
  • Competence in financial and mine planning
  • Proficient commercial and contractual acumen
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities and experience managing medium to large teams
  • Understanding of risk management and incident investigation principles
  • Cost control and financial accounting skills
  • Welldeveloped written and oral communication, negotiating and influencing skills
  • Strong ability to build and maintain positive client relationships
  • Proficient in MS Office and JDE (ERP)

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Substantial experience managing a senior management team in a mining environment
  • Authorization to work lawfully in Canada without sponsorship from Thiess is required
  • Must be fluent in the English language

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
