RETAIL OPERATIONS AND ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT Location Halifax, NS :

. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Gift Shop Operations and Customer Service

· Welcome and assist customers, providing excellent customer service.

· Manage cash register operations, including sales transactions, cash handling, and daily reconciliations.

· Maintain inventory levels, restock merchandise, and manage product displays to ensure a visually appealing and organized store environment.

2. Office Administration and Support

· Perform general administrative tasks such as answering phones, responding to emails, and managing correspondence.

· Maintain and organize office files, records, and documents.

· Assist with scheduling meetings, preparing meeting materials, taking minutes, and supporting the preparation of reports and presentations.

3. Comprehensive Knowledge and Coordination

· Provide information about the ship and the Canadian Naval Memorial Trust to visitors, enhancing their overall experience.

· Assist with event planning and coordination for Trust-related activities and functions, demonstrating a willingness to learn and share knowledge about Canadian naval history.

4. Public Engagement:

· Actively engage with visitors, answering questions, and fostering an interactive and educational experience.

· Participate in shipboard routines, historical events, and ceremonies to enhance the public's understanding of naval history.

5. Skill Development:

· Attend lectures, participate in a reading/study program, and engage in hands-on practical activities to continually enhance knowledge and tour guiding skills.

· Practice and refine guided tour techniques through training sessions and on-the-job experience.

6. Supervisory:

· Perform any additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor based on organizational needs and priorities.

Job Type: SeasonalContract length: 2 months

Pay: $15.20-$17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 7 per week

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed

Work Location: In person
