CYHC determines an individual's pay based on multiple factors including experience, education, job-related skills, and equity within the team. The compensation range for this role is $65/hr - $70/hr.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Internship Program Management

  • Oversee master's and doctoral level counsellors in daytoday operations, ensuring compliance and high quality of services.
  • Ensure that youth are effectively and efficiently served by the monitoring and tracking program outcomes and targets to ensure they are being met in a timely manner.
  • To aid and oversee interns in conducting intake to determine appropriate case planning.
  • To conduct individual, group (couples and conjoint) counseling supervision with interns to address youth's mental health concerns.
  • To aid and oversee the administration and interpretation of psychological inventories and tests as necessary. To aid and oversee report writing and diagnostic evaluation conducted by doctoral students.
  • To provide crisis intervention and emergency response (including on‐call responsibilities) and to facilitate the hospitalization, as well as the medical leave of absence of youth when appropriate.

Developmental of Programs and Training including:

  • To participate in training student counselling interns on mental health topics and intervention strategies.
  • To coordinate and manage counseling staff and intern participation in educational programs on topics that promote the strengths and capacities to facilitate optimal student growth and development as time and resources permit. Some educational topics include brief solution focused therapy, group therapy interventions, CBT, DBT, suicide intervention, START team introduction, nonviolent communication, stress management, reducing anxiety, assertiveness, and self‐esteem, managing conflict with others, overcoming test anxiety, learned optimism, maximizing personal strengths, and developing healthy relationships.
  • To provide supervision to staff counsellors, external site supervisors, and clinical supervisors, and counselling intern students.

Outreach and Consultation

  • To consult with faculty, administrators, staff, and appropriate university and training bodies regarding concerns about students.
  • Evaluates and regularly reviews performance strengths and issues with assigned staff in keeping with agency policy and service standards.
  • To work collaboratively with partner agencies, First Nations partners (e.g., Tzeachten and Stolo locations, Traditional wellness mentor), and medical team (e.g., medical doctors, nurse practitioner).
  • Identify new service and program needs and develop suitable program design, alongside the CYHC Board and Team.
  • Research and develop proposals for new programs and collaborate with other leaders to write proposals.

Qualifications and Experience:

The applicant will have, Masters or Doctorate degree in Psychology, Counselling, or related field as well as:

  • Appropriate licensure and certifications relevant to the position.
  • Strong knowledge of evidencebased treatment modalities and best practices in substance use disorder / mental health treatment.
  • Experience in the field of addiction, mental health, and trauma.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical practices and client confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively lead and motivate a diverse team of clinical professionals.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to think and act with strategic and tactical agility and lead strategic operational changes.
  • Strong ability to create productive working relationships with team members.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act and community mental health resources.
  • Experience in complex case management, working with people who are chemically dependent, or people who have other process or concurrent disorders.
  • Experience facilitating group therapy.

Job Type:
Part-time

$65-$70 per hour
