Response Centre Manager

ECRC~SIMEC has a position available for a _Response Centre Manager (RCM) _for its office in Dartmouth
(Nova Scotia). The RCM is responsible for developing and maintaining the state of preparedness for oil spill
response in the marine environment for the Maritimes area. With the assistance of a team of 4, the manager
ensures the maintenance of the equipment, develops and implements a training program for 75 contractors
and updates the regional area plans and response strategies. The manager undertakes local contact with the
clients and the governmental agencies involved. During an oil spill response in the area, the RCM will provide
the initial response and join the ECRC ~ SIMEC Spill Management Team.

Desirable qualifications include:

  • Self-Motivated team player capable of functioning in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to function in challenging response situations that require occasional shortnotice travel.
  • Experience in managing budgets and staff.
  • Environmental protection experience.
  • Marine and/or industrial experience.
  • Experience in emergency response involving oil spills or industrial cleanup.
  • Experience in supervising projects and small groups of workers.
  • Experience and/or training in adult instruction.
  • Excellent written and oral communication combined with experience using computerbased
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • The work environment is in English; functional knowledge of French is a benefit but not required
Salary to be commensurate with skills and experience.
