The Nature Trust stewards over 19,000 acres of land across Nova Scotia, and through their ambitious Twice the Wild campaign, aim to double their protected space for nature by 2025.


On behalf of our client, we are currently recruiting for a
Marketing and Communications Lead to join their team of dedicated professionals in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia for a one-year contract position.

We're looking for an energetic, passionate, and confident team member who can help inspire nature-lovers.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee development and implementation of annual communication, marketing and public relations plans supporting all Nature's Trust teams.
  • Develop PR assets and promotions to support philanthropic activities such as direct response and special events (virtual and onsite) and communitybased initiatives.
  • Coordinate and implement day to day social media content; act as main author for social media and blog posts.
  • Maintain updates and provide content for website.
  • Prepare news release templates, media advisories, event listings, key messages, backgrounders, briefing notes, articles, and other communication tools.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual social media/digital reports to help guide areas of opportunity and improvements.
  • Oversee and support the development of creative tools and collateral such as invitations, brochures, posters, etc.
  • Coordinates episodic media events/announcements/celebration events.
  • Oversees brand standards and quality control/brand alignment for all communications, public relations, and marketing.
  • Works with external vendors to produce annual reports, graphic design, etc. as needed.
  • Responds to general inquiries and concerns.

Leadership/Mentor Responsibilities:

  • Provide functional expertise and leadership for Communication, marketing, and public relations strategy.
  • Provides communications and marketing support for operations, programs, and team members.
  • Provides media/communications training/guidance to team members.

Key Abilities:

  • Demonstrated interest in or knowledge of the environmental sector and/or current issues and topics related to the environment or nature in Nova Scotia.
  • Experience with media or public relations events.
  • Work with external contractors as needed for graphic design, publicity events, videoediting.
  • Solid understanding of brand reputation practices and principles.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to meet deadlines gracefully.
  • Fostering teamwork amongst colleagues.
  • Exceptional eye for detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with the media, donors, members, the general public, employees, volunteers, sponsors and other organizations.

Working Conditions:

The Nature Trust team works in a hybrid office environment with regular working hours. There is an expectation that this individual will work in the office at least two days per week. This role may require attendance off hours at organization events or volunteer activities that require outside normal hours work.
