This is what you'll be doing:

  • Monthly service visits to Home Hemodialysis patient equipment. Replace pre-treatment filters, disinfect and collect water samples for monthly testing.
  • Collection of water samples, using aseptic technique, from water treatment systems and dialysis equipment for in center dialysis, offsite acute dialysis, dialysis satellite and the home program
  • Document results of all testing and report any test outside of acceptable limits to Charge Technologist.
  • Reporting of any equipment deficiencies noted at Home visits, document and report to Charge Technologist.
  • Set up of portable water treatment systems and portable dialysis equipment for acute dialysis at multiple sites.
  • Perform disinfection of portable water treatment systems and dialysis equipment at multiple sites.
  • Under supervision of the Renal Technologist may perform minor repairs and parts replacement on renal equipment.
  • Provide support to the independent dialysis program by performing maintenance of pretreatment filtration and carbon tanks in the patient's home.
  • Perform minor maintenance on Hemodialysis equipment and portable water treatment systems.
  • Maintains competency by attending workshops and manufacturers training as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate records of all testing and maintenance performed.

  • Working towards or a recent graduate from recognized Electronic/Biomedical Engineering or Dialysis Technology Program
  • 2 or more years of relevant experience required
  • Technical competency in mechanics, hydraulics and operation of personal computers required
  • Knowledge of sterile/aseptic technique, preferred
  • Experience in the service and maintenance of Fresenius 5008 and Gambro AK98 dialysis equipment preferred
  • Valid Ontario driver's license, mandatory
  • Demonstrated effective problem solving and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated experience working as a flexible and reliable member of a team
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Must be physically able to perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Satisfactory employment record and good attendance record.
