The Calgary Airport Authority manages and operates YYC Calgary International Airport and YBW Springbank Airport and collaborates with the many partners who make up YYC - from airlines to government agencies and retail outlets.

The Director, Terminal Operations is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the airport terminal facility and its associated services, including operations, maintenance, airline relations, tenant relations, government relations, customer service, building services, while ensuring regulatory compliance in all areas.

Responsible for leading, directing and inspiring a professional management team to achieve and maintain a world class airport terminal facility with associated services, including operations, maintenance, tenant relations, government relations, customer services, and building services, while ensuring regulatory compliance in all areas.

Ensure all operational and maintenance programs and services are in complete alignment with and promote the corporate vision, mission, values and business principles.

Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership, direction and guidance to the Departmental Heads. Establish performance goals with full input from staff. Provide feedback, manage attendance, and assess performance including performance pay. Ensure adequate succession planning strategy is in place.
CATSA, Transport Canada, Canada Border Services Agency, Corps of Commissionaires, Canada Immigration, Health Canada, US Customs & Border Protection), commercial airlines, and tenants to identify and work towards addressing common issues.

Ensure that the air terminal building community adheres to all airport policies, procedures, safety standards security requirements and regulations and/or equivalent.

Ensure policies and procedures are reviewed and updated as required, but not less than on an annual basis.

Ensure the Terminal Restoration Program is updated annually and the required capital projects are identified each year including updating the 10-year capital forecast for the department.

Develop policies, procedures, and work programs, both long & short term, to ensure the long-term viability of the air terminal complex.

Ensure that all policies and procedures meet with all applicable Federal, Provincial and Municipal regulations.
Lead negotiations and management of large contracts with vendors and service providers to ensure cost-effectiveness and service quality. These contracts cover Customer Experience, Janitorial, Customer Care Ambassadors, Baggage and Baggage Carts, as well as oversight of the PRM contract
Oversee facilities management, ensuring infrastructure is clean, well-maintained, safe and meets operational requirements.
Spearhead capacity planning initiatives, forecasting future demands and ensuring the airport can accommodate increasing passenger volumes.

Develop and implement strategies for efficient and effective management of Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM) services, ensuring compliance with regulations and delivering exceptional service.

Provide information, status reports and updates to senior management. Address issues and respond to public and media comments, complaints & inquiries concerning the airport and its operation.

Post secondary education and / or equivalent work experience combined with at least ten (10) years of experience in the aviation industry, demonstrating a thorough knowledge of commercial aviation, or airport operations and the Canadian Regulatory Environment.

Significant experience in negotiating complex and high value contract with a variety of suppliers and service providers.
Previous experience in a senior leadership position within airport operations is highly desirable.

Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of airport operations, airport security, facility management, aviation and aircraft procedures and practices, airport security and emergency planning, and property management skills.

Comprehensive knowledge of relevant Federal, Provincial and Municipal government legislation, regulations and policies.
Proven abilities in planning, organizing and negotiating, as well as conflict management, problem solving, and decision-making skills.

Must be self-motivated, a team player, well organized, able to balance many projects and deadlines, good problem-solving skills, excellent communicator, capable of maintaining confidential information and dealing effectively and cooperatively with many agencies, tenants and other parties.

This role is eligible for our hybrid work model with a combination of in-office and remote work.
